Wait, What? ‘American Pie’ Star Jason Biggs Is The Voice Of Leonardo In New CG ‘Ninja Turtles’

The Movie God   |

Back when Nickelodeon purchased the rights to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise back in 2009 for $60 million, we knew that a new live-action movie and a CG-animated TV show based on the turtles was on the way.

We haven’t seen much from the movie yet, but not too long ago some footage and the first image from the upcoming animated series arrived online (you can see it at right). The reactions to that seemed to be mixed, many unsure how they felt about the new look. And uncertainty in the show grows a little bit more with the announcement that American Pie star Jason Biggs will be voicing Leonardo.

I don’t know about you, but I have a lot of trouble imagining Leo voiced by Mr. Biggs. Maybe it’ll work out in the end, but surely a strange casting just going off initial impression of the news. [...]

‘Breaking Bad’ Star Bryan Cranston Joins Colin Farrell In ‘Total Recall’ Remake

The Movie God   |

An actor has been chosen to play one of the villains in the upcoming remake of Total Recall, and that actor looks like it will be Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston, who’s currently in negotiations for the role.

The movie is a remake of the 1990 movie of the same name, which is based on the Philip K. Dick story We Can Remember It for You Wholesale. It follows a man named Douglas Quaid who takes a vacation of the mind to the planet Mars, but when he suspects his memories have been corrupted in hopes of hiding his own reality he ventures to the planet for real, causing him to uncover some very big secrets and leading him to question what is real and what is all in his mind.

Cranston will play Vilos Cohaagen, who was played in the original film by Ronny Cox. He joins Colin Farrell, who has already been cast in the lead role of Douglas Quaid that was originally played by Arnold Schwarzenegger. [...]

The character Sentinel Prime is the Autobot Optimus Prime’s predecessor. You can see the character around the 2-minute mark in the teaser trailer for the film; he’s the wrecked body that is found on the Moon by the Apollo 11 astronauts in 1969.

Jimmy Fallon To Become Virtual Host For The Universal Studios Hollywood Tour

The Movie God   |

Universal Studios Hollywood has officially announced that Jimmy Fallon will be their brand new virtual host on the famed Studio Tour, which over 150 million people have taken part in.

Fallon will be introducing and setting up videos that will play on the new HD screens that are now part of the tram cars after some major high-tech upgrades were unleashed on the park, including the insane new 3D King Kong experience.

On his new gig, Fallon said, “We really had fun with filming my role. We brought some writers out from our show and added some jokes, more play with the Studio Tour guides, the tram drivers and we added a song or two. The tour itself is a classic, a really great experience. For anyone with any interest in show business, it’s all there: the glamor, the glitz, all the hard work that goes into making a movie or a TV show can be experienced on the Universal Studios Hollywood Studio Tour. I’m very happy to be a part of it.” [...]

Comic Review: Detective Comics #875

Detective 875

Detective Comics #875
Written by Scott Snyder
Art and Colors by Francesco Francavilla
Lettering by Jared K. Fletcher
DC Comics
Release Date: March 30, 2011

Scott Snyder has been teamed up with two of the most consistently amazing artists on his recent run on Detective Comics. Initially, before DC drew the line at $2.99, the outline for Detective Comics was set for Jock to do the art for the main, featured story, and for Francesco Francavilla to have backup feature duties while Snyder wrote both. The main story was to focus on Gotham City’s new Batman, Dick Grayson, while the backup was to focus on Gotham’s favorite Police Commissioner, James Gordon. The stories were set to intertwine and change places in positioning ever once in a while, but it was always going to try to keep them together.

Since January, however, the limited page count has forced the stories apart, and I, for one, could not be happier. In the instance of Detective Comics, it has given us the ability to see a completely focused story from Snyder and, in the case of Detective Comics #875, Francesco Francavilla, and oh what magic they work [...]

Jerry Bruckheimer Has Script For ‘Pirates Of The Caribbean 5′ Already In The Works

The Movie God   |

We’ve known for a long while now that Disney still had big plans for their Pirates of the Caribbean franchise after their latest installment, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, was announced. As far as we knew, the hopes were to do another whole trilogy with fifth and sixth installments also eventually being made.

After the firing of Dick Cook, however, there were a lot of whispers that star Johnny Depp was furious and that if he did return for Pirates 4, it would be his last. Fast forward about a year and a half later, and here we are. On Stranger Tides is about to hit on May 20 and there seems to be a strong buzz behind it, indicating all is well with the franchise. So in order to stay on top of things, super-producer Jerry Bruckheimer has already ordered work to begin on a script for the next movie, Pirates of the Caribbean 5. [...]

Frank Miller ‘Batman: Dark Knight Returns’ Art Expected To Fetch $100,000 At Auction

Batman & Robin art

Heritage Auctions will be auctioning off a piece of original art from Frank Miller and Klaus Janson‘s 1986 comic book series The Dark Knight Returns this May in New York City.

The auction house expects the art, which is the Batman and Robin splash page 10 from The Dark Knight Returns #3, to fetch over $100,000 at the event.

“This splash page, to my mind, is the single most memorable image from the entire book and the greatest image from the decade ever to come to market,” said Ed Jaster, Senior vice President of Heritage Auctions, “as well as one of the handful of most desirable pieces of original comic art from any era to come to market. This one has everything going for it and has already generated considerable buzz in collecting circles.” [...]

Book Review: Red: My Uncensored Life in Rock by Sammy Hagar

Red: My Uncensored Life in Rock by Sammy Hagar

Red: My Uncensored Life in Rock
By Sammy Hagar
Hardcover | Kindle
HarperCollins
Release date: March 15, 2011

Sammy Hagar was once the frontman of one of the biggest and greatest bands in history, the mighty Van Halen. But while Hagar sang about standing on “Top Of The World,” as he surely was at times, making millions of dollars, living a life of luxury with fast cars and plenty of women, the musician didn’t always have it easy. Matter of fact, Hagar spent years learning that money, fame, and hit records couldn’t solve every problem, like his wife’s mental state or his bandmate’s addictions and jealousies.

In his autobiography, Red: My Uncensored Life in Rock, we learn that Hagar began life modestly in Fontana, CA. The youngest of four children, he was raised in a low-income household with an alcoholic father who abused his mother. He later went on have his own family with little means of supporting them, but Hagar makes it clear that he was always a hard worker. It always seemed that the entertainer got his big break in music when he was asked by the Van Halen brothers, guitarist Eddie and drummer Alex, to replace their departing singer David Lee Roth just as the band had come off a winning strike with their best-selling album up until that time, 1984. But while Van Halen was one of the biggest rock bands at the time, thanks to hits like “Jump” and “Panana,” Hagar was already a successful solo artist who had actually made enough money and did enough tours on his own to retire from music altogether. And retire to a life of solitude with his wife and kids was his plan until Eddie Van Halen persuaded him to join the band, and while Hagar was reluctant to accept, his chemistry musically with Van Halen proved too strong a force to deny — the singer/guitarist was ready for the “Best Of Both Worlds.” [...]

Set Photos Reveal Adrianne Palicki In New Wonder Woman Costume

Empress Eve   |

Adrianne Palicki as Wonder Woman

Earlier this month, the first photo was released of Adrianne Palicki as TV’s new Wonder Woman, but the costume was met with much dislike, with fans stating that it looked like a cheap Halloween costume.

Apparently, the creators of the upcoming Wonder Woman series took the criticism to heart, as new set photos from the show reveal Palicki in a revised costume.

The costume revision is more in line with what we expect Wonder Woman to look like. The original bright blue pleather pants have been replaced with dark blue tights that have gold stars down the side; the equally bright blue boots are now red and the large block heel is gone [...]
