Video: Sammy Hagar Talks About His ‘Red’ Autobiography

Rock legend Sammy Hagar just released his autobiography, Red: My Uncensored Life in Rock, and trust me, it’s seriously uncensored.
Hagar is best known for his role as frontman of Van Halen (replacing David Lee Roth in the mid-1980s) and as you can imagine, he’s got some great stories to tell.
Check out the video here below of Hagar talking a bit about his new book, along with his co-author Joel Selvin.
You may have seen the buzz on Hagar’s comments to MTV about being abducted by aliens. I have to say, that’s brilliant marketing right there, because all of a sudden the name “Sammy Hagar” is all over the net. Personally, I’d rather read about his musical endeavors and what it was like to be part of one of the biggest bands in the world [...]

Fox Gives ‘Fringe’ 22-Episode Season 4; Fans Rejoice

One of the many popular-yet-not-always-successful shows on TV whose future has had a big question mark over its head lately is the J.J. Abrams‘ thriller, Fringe.
In an era of DVR and OnDemand services, people rarely watch a show when it’s actually on, and this makes it really hard for a network to gauge whether it’s worth continuing on with a series or if it’s time to cut their losses and move forward. It seems like almost every show these days has that tense moment (sometimes multiple times) where the future is dark and hope is diminishing before a decision is made, but for fans of Fringe, you needn’t worry any longer.
It’s being reported that Fox has indeed decided to stick by their show, which stars Joshua Jackson, Anna Torv, John Noble, Lance Reddick, Blair Brown, and Jasika Nicole. And not only have they decided to stick by the show, but they’re going to give another 22-episode full-season run to really decide its own fate. [...]

Sequel To ‘Spider-Man’ Reboot Already In Motion With Writer James Vanderbilt Secured To Pen Script

We all knew Sony Pictures and Columbia Pictures were planning multiple movies in their insta-reboot of the Spider-Man franchise, which will start with The Amazing Spider-Man, but it looks like they’re already preparing to begin working on the sequel before the first has even finished filming.
It’s being reported that the services of screenwriter James Vanderbilt have been retained and that he’ll now begin working on the script for the follow-up after pitching an idea to executives that they apparently liked enough to approve of.
The Amazing Spider-Man stars Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker, the high school student who suddenly discovers he has incredible arachnid-like powers. Emma Stone will star as his love interest, Gwen Stacy, and Denis Leary is set to play her father, George. The movie also stars Rhys Ifans as the villain, the Lizard.
This type of quick-moving action happens all the time, but doesn’t mean we’ll be seeing a sequel quickly, if that’s your hope. [...]

Director’s Cut Of 1990 ‘Captain America’ Movie Is Coming To Blu-Ray!

The much-anticipated Captain America: The First Avenger hits screens this July after years in development. If the trailers are any indication, it’s bound to be a thrilling comic book adventure that will be able to stand head and shoulders with the finest superhero flicks ever made, but it wouldn’t be the first time the Star-Spangled Avenger has been in front of a movie camera.
According to io9, the infamous 1990 Captain America movie — produced by former Cannon Pictures co-head Menahem Golan and directed by Albert Pyun, the man responsible for such sterling works of B-cinema as The Sword and the Sorcerer and Cyborg with a young Jean-Claude Van Damme — is coming to Blu-Ray this May, two months ahead of Marvel Studios’ blockbuster-in-the-making and will be something new entirely. According to director Pyun, this new release of his Captain America will be a newly-created director’s cut with 27 minutes of never-before-seen footage added back in, bringing the movie’s running time up to 124 minutes. Pyun also says that the director’s cut will be created from “my own 35 mm CA work picture and temp mix [that] I did before I left [the] picture” and the new footage will include “a few added scenes, and is more character-oriented and less ‘super hero action.’” The new cut will also feature a new soundtrack and will be in 5.1 stereo [...]

‘Futurama’ Comeback Officially A Success; Comedy Central Gets 26 More Episodes

The ultimate goal of for fans of the canceled Fox animated favorite Futurama, much like it was with Family Guy and still is for Firefly, was for the network to realize just how many passionate fans there still were out there, forcing them to give the show a second chance. Eventually this passion and perseverance paid off with four direct-to-DVD movies to test the waters (something they should try with Firefly) and the announcement that 26 brand new episodes would be airing on Comedy Central. 13 of these episodes have already run, bringing in around 2 million viewers per episode, and the second wave of that initial renewal is set to debut in June.
With over 10 million fans on Facebook, the worry was that not nearly as many fans were watching the show as there should be and naturally there was fear that these final 13 episodes would be the last we ever saw of Futurama. But now we can chalk that off to paranoia — it’s been announced that 26 MORE episodes have been ordered, keeping fans of the show set until 2013. [...]

Robert Pattinson Talks Vampire C-Section In ‘Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn’

It’s safe to say that the two Breaking Dawn movies are the most anticipated installments of the Twilight film franchise. Fans of the books know exactly what happens between the human Bella and her vampire love Edward in Stephenie Meyer’s final book, and thanks to all the internet buzz on it, everyone else in the world knows it too.
Spoilers ahead for Breaking Dawn (as if this information is avoidable):
Ok, we know in Breaking Dawn that Bella and Edward get hitched and that they actually consummate the marriage, even though in the Twilight universe, vampire-human sex is quite dangerous to the human. There’s a romantic wedding night for the couple that ends in some kind of feather fiasco. And, Edward manages to impregnate his wife, but having a half-vamp baby inside her is yet another physical danger to Bella [...]

Age-Old Superman/Flash Debate Rocks The DC Comics Blog

The internet is a weird wild wonderful place, full of everything that’s good and bad in the world; it’s also highly interactive. Users can obtain information, but also give their opinions, for instance in a Comments section, like the one at the bottom of this very article.
Sometimes, people get really pissed off and Comments can turn from healthy debate into personal insults and hate speech. Last week, this very thing happened on the DC’s The Source blog in a post previewing Superman #709, forcing the publisher to initially shut down commenting for the entire blog and removing the offensive reader comments on the preview post.
Were the commentors all fired up over some political situation? Nope. What about something to do with the tragic earthquake in Japan? No, no, not at all. Readers got fired up over something of true historical importance: Who is faster, Superman or The Flash? [...]

The classic Ozzy Osbourne albums, Blizzard of Ozz and Diary Of A Madman, are scheduled to be reissued in May 2011. The two albums are cited by metalheads around the world as classics, and were indeed an important chapter in the evolution of metal during the 1980′s. They are the first two recordings by Ozzy following his years in Black Sabbath, and were key releases in him reasserting his position as the “Prince of Fucking Darkness!”
Lots of good new stuff has been included with these reissues, scheduled for release on May 31, 2011, and fans will have some different versions to choose from.
First up is the 30th Anniversary Edition of Blizzard of Ozz, including the entire original album recording that has been remastered by George Marino for the release. This CD will also have bonus tracks added, including a rare guitar solo from Randy Rhoads.

Listen Now: New Devin Townsend Project Song From Upcoming Album ‘Ghost’
 |
Posted by cGt2099 | March 23rd, 2011 at 8:30 pm |

A new song by The Devin Townsend Project entitled “Feather,” from the upcoming release, Ghost, is now online. The album is anticipated to be out during Summer 2011. The tune is a big departure for Devin Townsend, mostly known for his work in the metal scene, and in the band, Strapping Young Lad. You can have a listen to “Feather,” originally from a free Century Media sampler, in the video player below.
Ghost is the fourth release in a four-part series released by The Devin Townsend Project. The project was begun by Townsend in 2009 in an attempt to extend his musical identity and push the boundaries beyond the musical styles he has played with in the past. Unlike his previous solo efforts and his work with Strapping Young Lad, each album takes on a particular sound, style, and feel, encompassing the different aspects of his music.
The first album in the series, Ki, was a laid-back mainly acoustic affair; while the second album, Addicted, is more metal with a pop-rock edge. The third and fourth albums, Deconstruction and Ghost respectively, will be released in June 2011. Deconstruction is expected to be some of Townsend’s heaviest and more brutal works, and is more in line with his metal roots [...]

Actress Elizabeth Taylor was one of the most respected and most recognized names to grace the Silver Screen. Lately she’s been in the news often as her rapidly declining health became apparent to the public eye, and early Wednesday morning the iconic actress passed away at the age of 79. Taylor’s cause of death was congestive heart failure, which she was first diagnosed with in 2004, and she was surrounded by her family at the time of her passing.
She started out young in the business, nabbing her first role at ten years of age in 1942′s There’s One Born Every Minute, and made her first big wave in 1944′s National Velvet. She went on to appearances in Little Women (1949), Father of the Bride (1950), Giant (1956), and her first three Oscar nominations in Raintree County (1957), Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (1958), and Suddenly, Last Summer (1959).

Art by Leonardo Manco
Colors by Charlie Kirchoff
Lettering by Travis Lanham
Cover A: Tim Bradstreet
Cover B: Nick Percival
Cover C: Clive Barker
Price $3.99
Release date: March 23, 2011
It’s always funny to hear that with all the Hellraiser movies out there, Clive Barker has only been involved in the first movie, and the novella that movie was based on. And that’s it. And this is the name most often connected with the series. So I’m sure it’s exciting for horror fans to learn that Barker has returned to the series that made him famous, as he has with the new comic series from BOOM! Studios. It’s been almost 25 years since he last worked on the series, so now it’s time to see if he has picked up where he left off.
Anyone familiar with the movies will be right at home with this comic. It quickly sets up the familiar elements of the series: the puzzle box, the Cenobites, lots and lots of bodies without any skin — they’re all here within the first 10 pages. Hellraiser #1 sees Pinhead, the most famous of the Hellraiser characters, as he tries to make some kind of deal with a powerful force. It also brings back a character that will be known to people that know the series, but others will need to check the Hellraiser Wikipedia entry [...]
