Early next month, HBO subscribers will be able to watch their favorite shows on mobile and tablet devices when the cable network launches a new streaming media app.
With HBO Go, current HBO subscribers will be able to watch the network’s entire content library, which contains 1,400 episodes, documentaries, and movies, on laptops as well as smartphones and tablet devices for no extra charge. The service is free to current subscribers.
To take advantage of the HBO Go streaming service, you have to be subscribed to an HBO package through a cable or satellite provider, like Comcast, AT&T, Verizon, or DirecTV, which means users cannot sign up for the service directly through their mobile or tablet devices.

The app will launch for smartphones and tablets on May 2, 2011. Some content is already available for viewing in HD via laptops and desktop computers at HBOgo.com.
