The Walt Disney D23 Expo is upon us once again, and with it comes some exciting looks at the company’s upcoming movie slate.
The Expo will take place from August 19 to August 21 at the Anaheim Convention Center, and it totes an impressive lineup that will include Marvel’s The Avengers, The Muppets, John Carter, Disney/Pixar’s Brave, Tim Burton’s Frankenweenie, Oz: The Great and Powerful, and plenty more.
Continue reading for a rundown of what to expect, who’s appearing, and how those of you in the area can attend.
Stars appearing include cast from The Avengers, Jason Segel and Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy (The Muppets), Taylor Kitsch, Lynn Collins, and Willem Dafoe (John Carter), Kelly Macdonald and Kevin McKidd (Brave), Jennifer Garner (The Odd Life of Timothy Green), Jack McBrayer and Sarah Silverman (Wreck-It Ralph), and some surprise guests—most likely including (but not confirmed) Johnny Depp, who’s still expected to appear in a couple more Pirates of the Caribbean flicks and the upcoming Lone Ranger movie.
There will be five special sessions dedicated to the great work that Pixar has and will continue doing. These sessions include a peek at the characters of Monsters, Inc. 2, officially titled Monsters University, some art from the studios latest film, Brave, the scores of Michael Giacchino, and a retrospective of Pixar’s wonderful shorts.
There will also be a conversation with the Pixar creative team, which should be a can’t miss session. It includes John Lasseter (Walt Disney and Pixar Animation Studios chief creative officer, director of Toy Story 1-2 and Cars), Jim Morris (general manager, Pixar Animation Studios), Pete Docter (director, Monsters, Inc., Up), Andrew Stanton (director, Finding Nemo, WALL-E), Bob Peterson (co-director, Up), Lee Unkrich (director, Toy Story 3), Mark Andrews (director, Brave) and Dan Scanlon (director, Monsters University).
This is just the surface of what’s going on at this year’s D23 Expo, and you can see much more by heading to the official site. You can also get ticket information there if you want to attend.
