As faithful fans of Alex Proyas’s 1994 cult classic, The Crow, learned about the planned remake with Bradley Cooper attached to star, the response was crystal clear: bitter, heated rage.
Now those very same fans can rejoice, as Cooper has decided to detach himself from the project due to scheduling conflicts…and probably a little reputation control. The actor has a movie called Silver Linings Playbook with David O. Russell, and also a movie called Paradise Lost, which shoots around the same time Relativity Media plans on filming The Crow. Of course, all good things do come to an end, and celebrations could be a bit premature.
It’s also being reported that actors that could step in and replace Cooper include G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra and Fighter star Channing Tatum, as well as The Fighter and The Departed star Mark Wahlberg, who was the first actor talked about for the lead role before departing the movie and declaring himself as the new Nathan Drake.
Now I’m not nearly as passionate about The Crow as many of you are, but I have to imagine this remake gets even worse if Tatum is cast, right? I’d take Cooper over Tatum in pretty much any kind of movie they can make out there. Wahlberg would be a toss up with Cooper, as well, so there’s not much positive going on for fans.
If you absolutely HAVE to choose one of these three actors, who would you settle for? And if you have an open choice of any actor at all to play the role once played by Brandon Lee, who do you cast?
That is easy. Charlie Hunnam, Jax from SOA. There is noone else in Hollywood with a badass enough edge. The Crow has been my favorite movie since it hit theatres when I was 16. My preference would be to not make a remake and risk scarring the memory of Brandon’s most monumental performance and his legacy. In my eyes it compares to trying to remake the Wizard of Oz. Waste of time. However, if it must be done, bring on Charlie and lets watch him kick some ass:)Â

If I- gun to my head- had to choose, I’d go with Wahlberg. I think he’s the best actor of the bunch. That said, I wouldn’t be happy about it. NONE of them are quite right for it.
How about Jason Momoa (Kahl Drago, Conan), I know he was interested in the part and maybe even tried out. He was an excellent Drago, and I am hopeful for Conan… Anyone think he could do this?

I think Fairuza Balk would make an awesome Crow
