Daniel Radcliffe in The Woman in Black

There is no better way to shed a Harry Potter-style character than by jumping into the world of creepy, bone-chilling horror films. And that is exactly what Daniel Radcliffe has done in his latest film, The Woman In Black.

Yahoo! has released a new trailer for the film, which comes to us thanks to director James Watkins, and follows the story a young man, a lawyer, who comes to a town on the east coast of England to finalize the estate for a recently passed elderly woman. Spooky happenings follow, and it appears as though the atmosphere fits the narrative like a glove.

Watch the new teaser trailer here below.

As a fan of both Radcliffe and Eden Lake director Watkins, this film looks really intriguing. The spot is immensely creepy, and while horror films can always make great trailers, this premise will likely make for really creepy cinema. Or at least one can hope.

  1. Eh. Maybe I’ve seen too many horror movies but there doesn’t seem to be anything new or chill inspiring in this trailer. Yeah, Harry Potter is in it but nothing made me jump. Right now, I’m just reminded of “The Others”. Looks like that. Just looks blah, muted, like they focused too much on creating a spooky looking atmosphere to the detriment of any substance. Would like to see a more revealing trailer maybe?

  2. There’s a longer and creepier trailer at http://blogs.bbcamerica.com/anglophenia/2011/08/17/watch-daniel-radcliffe-all-grown-up-in-the-woman-in-black/

I suppose, if one’s not afraid of creepy dolls & such, one might not be much impressed. But if, like me, you are A Fully-Grown-Adult Who Is Completely Terrified by Evil China Dolls and Mechanical Monkeys, then this will probably be utterly soul-killingly horrifying.

Pottermania is involved only to the extent that I would otherwise avoid this film as being the embodiment of all my childhood fears, except that sweet young Daniel Radcliffe Has Sidewhiskers. And so I have to make the decision: adorable Harry Potter with sideburns, or a lifetime of nightmares. Why does Life present one with these Unbearable Choices???

  3. Well, I got the chills.  Here’s a big “attaboy” for Daniel Radcliffe getting right back on the big screen after Harry Potter.  He doesn’t want to be known as the boy who lived for the rest of his life.  Grow up like the Corey’s and only be thought of when people talk about The Lost Boys or the Goonies.

  4. Does anyone know the name of the creepy piano music in the trailer is?
