Geek Discussion: Will Michael Shannon’s General Zod Have A CGI Suit In ‘Man Of Steel’?

Some snapshots from the set of Zack Snyder‘s Superman reboot, Man of Steel, have found their way to the ‘net, and one of the images has folks talking about a potential decision that could have fans quite angry.
The images come from the Kent farmhouse set, where young Superman (Henry Cavill) was raised by Martha (Diane Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Kevin Costner). In one image in particular it appears that the villain, General Zod (Michael Shannon, or his stunt double), is visiting the Kent house, and it looks like he’s wearing some sort of performance capture suit, leading many to wonder if his suit will be added digitally later. This has been done once before, when it was announced that Ryan Reynolds’ superhero suit would be completely CGI in Green Lantern, which was, well…frowned upon by many.
Continue on below now to check out the image for yourself and share your thoughts on what might be going on, as well as your feeling if it is indeed another CGI suit–in-the–making. [...]

Big Name Action Actresses Cast In ‘Danger Girl’ Film

Back in April 2010, it was announced that a big-screen adaptation of the Wildstorm comic book series Danger Girl was in the works with Todd Lincoln at the helm and Adrian Askarieh producing.
Apparently, three big name actresses — two of whom are kick-ass action stars — are now attached to star in the film as the three Danger Girls from the series.
Latino Review is reporting that Milla Jovovich, Kate Beckinsale, and Sofia Vergara will be taking on these roles.
That is some serious business right there considering the nature of the Danger Girl comic book series, which debuted in 1998 from creators J. Scott Campbell and Andy Hartnell. It’s an action-adventure spy series that revolves around a group of highly intelligent and deadly buxom babes, all of whom have special skills in weaponry, demolitions, treasure-hunting, and more, of the top-secret organization Danger Girl [...]

Who better to do a film about male strippers than Stephen Soderbergh, right?
That’s exactly what the director plans on working on in the coming future, and with the cast growing at an ever speedy rate, the Soderbergh’s low budget Magic Mike appears to be one of the hotter projects going around Hollywood.

‘Lone Ranger’ Going On Without Gore Verbinski?
 |
Posted by Cinemumra | August 22nd, 2011 at 1:13 pm |

Things are getting really interesting on the Lone Ranger front.
After having a handful of issues with its budget, things appear to be moving forward on the project still. However, at this year’s D23 expo, producer Rich Ross made the web a buzz by instead of mentioning someone, he omitted someone.
Deadline has noted that, in a discussion about the film, the producer stated that “I’m hoping to do it. I’m certainly hoping. I think it’s a compelling story and no one wants to work with Jerry and Johnny more than me, so we’ll see how it works.” Normal statement, right? Not when taking into account the omission of director Gore Verbinski [...]

Movie Review: Griff The Invisible

Griff the Invisible
DIRECTOR: Leon Ford
STARRING: Ryan Kwanten, Maeve Dermody, Marshall Napier, Heather Mitchell, Toby Schmitz, Patrick Brammall, Anthony Phelan
Indomina Releasing
RELEASE DATE: August 19, 2011 (limited)
Most of us recognize Ryan Kwanten as Jason Stackhouse from the hit guilty pleasure–fest that is HBO’s True Blood. Some fans may know his voice from Zack Snyder’s Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole or smaller, more obscure fare like the forgettable Flicka and Dead Silence, or even more obscure TV titles like Summerland, or Home and Away and Spellbinder: Land of the Dragon Lord in his native Australia. But again, most of us point to Mr. Stackhouse.
But Kwanten has also dabbled in the realms of indie films over the past couple of years, and his work there is not to be ignored. After seeing the 2010 western thriller, Red Hill, I was more than excited to take a peek at his other 2010 effort, Griff the Invisible, which is just now seeing a limited theatrical run. [...]

Spoiler Talk: Fright Night (2011)

If you’ve expected a movie to be terrible for the longest time, and then you watch it and it turns out not to be complete garbage, does that necessarily make it good? I have no idea. I do know it’s never a good idea to start a review off with a question.
I will admit to not thinking much of the Fright Night remake (except for the casting) as it seemed to be yet another remake in an litter box full of them and the best one could hope for is that it’s better than _________ [insert your own shitty remake here as you could probably name a dozen off the top of your head].
But 2 hours later as you exit the theater singing along to the end credits (“99 problems and a bitch ain’t one…”) you realize that you had a pretty decent time, and that last week’s The Help would have been a lot more entertaining and a lot less preachy had vampires been involved.
Besides, it’s always nice to see a real vampire movie for a change instead of the brooding Beiber-vag’s that contaminate the megaplexes nowadays.
It’s time for SPOILERS [...]
