Watch 5 New ‘Fright Night’ Clips, Including A Red Band Scene

BAADASSSSS!   |

Fright Night 2011

DreamWorks has released three brief new clips from their much-touted 3D remake of Fright Night, directed by Craig Gillespie (Lars and the Real Girl) and written by Marti Noxon (I Am Number Four), at the film’s YouTube channel. EW has an exclusive clip, while IGN has an exclusive red band clip.

You can check them out below this article.

There’s not much in the way of action or juicy gore on display in the YouTube videos, but in two of the clips we do get to see more of former Doctor Who star David Tennant as Peter Vincent, the reluctant vampire killer played by the late Roddy McDowall in the 1985 original. The IGN clip on the other hand features some intense action, flying dirt bikes, and a cool unbroken 360 degree interior tracking shot, while the EW clip shows what happens when a vampire comes up against a cross [...]

Guillermo del Toro Says New Game ‘inSANE’ Has H.P. Lovecraft Qualities

The Movie God   |

inSANE

Given that Universal Pictures recently denied us of another exciting Guillermo del Toro monster movie—the H.P. Lovecraft adaptation, At the Mountains of Madness—it’s no great shock that the director has integrated a little Lovecraft inspiration into other projects of his.

For those who didn’t know, del Toro is a geek and a gamer at heart, and he’s been hard at work stepping into the realms of video games. He admittedly was clueless going in, but he’s learned a lot as production on the game he’s working on with THQ and Volition Inc., inSANE, has moved forward. And now del Toro shares that the game has a “Lovecraftian” quality to it, making it even more exciting than it once was.

Continue reading for more, and to see the super teaser trailer for inSANE you have not yet seen it.

Not much was known about the game other than it’s being planned as a trilogy and that it’s going to scare the life out of people, but del Toro added to that just a bit in a recent chat with MTV. [...]

Listen Now: ‘Game of Thrones’ Theme Song With Lyrics

BAADASSSSS!   |

Topless Robot has posted a video created by Karliene Reynolds and her collaborators at Cabinfever Production Studios inspired by the HBO series A Game of Thrones. Reynolds, with the assistance of Brian Horton, Lin Umstead, and Caleb Cox, created a new arrangement of the show’s theme song “You Win or You Die,” composed for the series by Ramin Djawadi, and added their own lyrics. Reynolds wrote the new lyrics and sang and performed piano on the arrangement. You can check out the video here below.

It’s a very lovely arrangement of the theme and the lyrics are very fitting given the show’s thematic elements. Strange, but I was expecting these lyrics to parody the show rather than honor it. Emotionally straightforward, sad, a bit hopeful at times, it’s an excellent video and a great tribute to a series that’s already shaping up to be another HBO classic [...]

‘Jersey Shore’ Audition Tapes For People You’d Actually Want To Watch!

The Movie God   |

South Park Jersey Shore

Fans of the unwatchable abomination that is MTV’s (inexplicably) hit show, Jersey Shore, might not know this, but there were plenty of others who sent in audition tapes to be part of the show.

Unfortunately for those of us who can’t stomach more than a few minutes of the show, these applicants weren’t cast on the show, but their audition tapes have now leaked.

You can see the video of these auditions below now!

Conan O’Brien first showed off the video on his TBS late–night show, Conan, which shows favorites like John Lithgow (Dexter), Oscar nominee Jesse Eisenberg (The Social Network), DJ Qualls (Road Trip), and Jack McBrayer (30 Rock) all reading for roles on the Shore. [...]

Trailer For ‘The Woman In Black’ Will Give You Chills

Cinemumra   |

Daniel Radcliffe in The Woman in Black

There is no better way to shed a Harry Potter-style character than by jumping into the world of creepy, bone-chilling horror films. And that is exactly what Daniel Radcliffe has done in his latest film, The Woman In Black.

Yahoo! has released a new trailer for the film, which comes to us thanks to director James Watkins, and follows the story a young man, a lawyer, who comes to a town on the east coast of England to finalize the estate for a recently passed elderly woman. Spooky happenings follow, and it appears as though the atmosphere fits the narrative like a glove.

Watch Now: The 25 Greatest Unscripted Lines In Film History

Cinemumra   |

While a majority of what we see during each film is often able to be seen right there in the film’s script, it’s the moments that aren’t, the moments of improvisation, the moments of creativity, that are forever remembered in the history books.

And now, thanks to The High Definite, we have a new video proclaiming the 25 Greatest Unscripted Scenes in all of film history. “You’re going to need a bigger boat,” “Here’s Johnny!,” and even Han Solo’s response to Leia’s proclamation of love are all found on this list, as are a few gems that seem almost too perfect to actually be unscripted.

DNA Found In Meteorites Suggests … We’re All Aliens?!

The Movie God   |

Meteorite DNA

That’s right ladies and gentlemen, it would appear that we’re ALL actually aliens…and not just from the perspective of other lifeforms in the universe.

Scientists have discovered two of the four nucleobases—which are essential in building DNA—in meteorites found in Antarctica. The two nucleobases discovered, adenine and guanine, suggest that the basic building blocks for life could be present throughout the universe, and that meteorites that hit Earth gatrillions (it’s a real number…don’t look it up) of years ago could have acted as seeds, planting what would eventually become life on our planet.

This would also mean that if it did happened here, it could have happened many other places as well.

This isn’t the first time something like this has been discovered, either, though it is one of the best cases. In most other instances nucleobases like this were discovered in meteorites, it was too hard to distinguish whether or not they came with the rock or if some kind of lifeform had later come into contact with it, leaving the DNA. Pick Your Favorite Dexter Confession In New Online Game For Showtime’s ‘Dexter’

Cinemumra   |

As the new season is nearing its debut, and with the last season now on DVD and Blu-ray, Showtime has announced and subsequently launched a new online game for fans of their hit series, Dexter.

Entitled “Dexter Confessions,” the game asks you to pick your favorite Dexter Confession, and post them onto either Twitter or Facebook. It’s not the most involving of games, but when you complete the task, you get a trailer for the upcoming season, and honestly, that’s enough reward to do pretty much anything [...]

New Poster For Jason Statham’s ‘Safe’ Hits

Cinemumra   |

When it comes to action films, very few people do them as right and as interesting as actor Jason Statham. Be it the Transporter franchise or the pair of Crank films, there has always been something about the actor that has made him one of the most beloved names within the genre.

And now, we have the first poster for his next effort, Safe. Check it out in full here below.

The film comes to us from writer/director Boaz Yakin and follows a former elite operative, who is forced to keep a young girl safe from those who desperately want to see her demise. The cast includes Catherine Chan, Chris Sarandon, Robert John Burke, Reggie Lee, Danny Hoch, and James Hong, and looks to be something of an interesting bit of counter programming come its release on October 28, 2011 [...]

Rumor Alert: Superman/Batman Movie On The Way?

MK2Fac3   |

SuperBat

Apparently, there is a real chance of Warner Bros. considering a future movie team-up of the characters of Superman and Batman after 2013′s release of Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel.

Rumor has it that this possible upcoming Superman/Batman movie could go one of two ways. The first being that, if Christian Bale is willing to reprise his role, Batman would be mentoring a young Superman in fighting super crime that threatens the world. And if Bale isn’t willing, the other idea is too throw out the Chris Nolan continuity, and have Henry Cavill‘s Superman mentoring a young Bruce Wayne.

This is a terrible idea [...]

New Image Of Daniel Radcliffe In ‘The Woman in Black’

BAADASSSSS!   |

A new still of a very frightened (and stubbly) Daniel Radcliffe from his first major post-Harry Potter role in the upcoming film The Woman in Black has just been released. You can view a full, larger version of the image by clicking the thumbnail at the end of this article.

The film is based on the novel by Susan Hill, which had previously been adapted for the international stage, and is directed by James Watkins (Eden Lake) from a screenplay by Jane Goldman (X-Men: First Class). The story follows young lawyer Arthur Kipps (Radcliffe) who travels to a remote village to help put a recently deceased client’s affairs in order and discovers that the locals are being terrorized by the ghost of a scorned woman. As the old saying goes, hell hath no fury [...]

The Torchwood TARDISblend 32: The Categories Of Life

cGt2099   |

TARDISblend - Torchwood

Torchwood: Miracle Day continues, as we find the governments of the world re-categorizing life. Gwen Cooper (Eve Myles) returns home to Wales to investigate the segregation of the ill and the injured into Overflow Camps, while the rest of Torchwood is joined by Doctor Vera Juarez (Arlene Tur) to investigate the American camps, under the guidance of Captain Jack Harkness (John Barrowman).

During TARDISblend 32, we review the events of The Categories Of Life, in which we drill down into many criticisms we have of the episode in addition to the series as a whole. We comment on Gwen’s return to and mission in Wales, and discuss the pivotal moments for the character of Vera Juarez during the episode.

Performances seemed a little off this time around, and even Bill Pullman wasn’t up to his usual best. We also look at some past Torchwood episodes, and make some new recommendations for some of the new fans out there.

All this and more on the latest TARDISblend! [...]

Walton Goggins Joins ‘G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation’

Cinemumra   |

While his stock is very much rising, particularly after his stint on various TV shows and bit parts in huge films (I’m thinking Predators and Cowboys & Aliens), Walton Goggins has yet to nab a meaty role for himself. That may have just changed.

Goggins has joined the cast of the upcoming film, G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation, and will play Warden Nigel James. Information surrounding James is light, as it appears as though he’s not an immensely popular character, but it should prove to be quite an interesting turn for the actor [...]

Music Review: Muppets: The Green Album

The Geeks of Doom   |

Muppets

Muppets: The Green Album
Various Artists
CD | MP3
Walt Disney Records
Release date: August 23, 2011

NPR is currently streaming the upcoming compilation album Muppets: The Green Album for free (you can listen to the entire album right here below). The album features many of today’s most popular artists covering classic Muppets tunes.

I generally stay clear of “tribute” albums or compilations where your new favorite bands are assembled like some kind of snotty superhero team. This is because the implied mission of these records is to teach us morons how cool people like Buddy Holly were. (See: Rave On. Actually, don’t.) And besides, for those of us who already enjoy the subjects being covered, you only want to put the originals on when these little smug-fests are over. I get it. You like Leonard Cohen. So do we.

However, Muppets: The Green Album is one of the more fun various artist collabs I’ve heard since that Carpenters joint from the nineties. Starting with The Ok Go’s wonderfully reworked version of the “Muppets Theme,” you’re immediately invited into a world where the narrative isn’t so “Hey, dum-dum! I know better than you!” Alkaline Trio’s “Movin’ Right Along” will have you tapping your toes at your cubicles. And The Fray have a great time with “Mahna Mahna.: Although, just about every performance is more optimistic than the next, My Morning Jacket runs away with the album with an absolutely gorgeous version of “Our World.” [...]
