First losing a director, and now this.
After falling victim to a bit of a delay following the departure of then director Darren Aronofsky, the much talked about sequel, The Wolverine, may have to wait even longer to see the light of day.
In speaking to HitFix, producer Lauren Shuler Donner revealed that the film will likely be shooting in the late summer of next year, as star Hugh Jackman is more than a tad bit busy. With films like Les Miserables taking up a block of Jackman’s time, the actor doesn’t seem to be able to fit the franchise onto his plate for quite some time.
Personally, this wait could do the film well. James Mangold is helming the picture, which gives this writer a lot of hope for a franchise that frankly, needs all the help it can get. The first film, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, was absolutely horrible, so hopefully the sequel can make good on promises set, and ultimately not kept, but the first film. Hopes are really high for this picture, so given the right amount of time, we may have one hell of a film on our hands here.
