‘Top Gun’ Coming Back To Theaters In 3D

Nothing says 3D like a bunch of shirtless dudes playing volleyball.

That’s exactly what some people think, as, according to THR, Tony Scott’s Top Gun is coming back to the big screen, and before it gets a sequel, it’s getting 3D.

No set release date has been announced as of yet, except a planned release for some time in 2012. The 2D to 3D conversion is being worked on by Legend 3D, the same crew behind the 3D on Transformers: Dark Of The Moon, so you know there is some sort of talent behind the conversion that will be taking place here.

Personally, while I despise up conversions, this is actually a film I think could do well to have one. The dogfights are going to look great in 3D, particularly if the conversion is up to par. I’m not a huge fan of the film, but I am a fan of the idea of seeing this thing in 3D. Hopefully the conversion can live up to its potential.

What do you think?
