BFG

Apparently it’s a big week for DreamWorks, and it’s only Monday.

With the animation side of the mega-studio teaming with Netflix for a new streaming deal, the studio proper is still looking to make a splash, as The Wrap is reporting that they have bought up the rights to Roald Dahl‘s beloved book, The BFG.

The book tells the story of a big friendly giant and a child who befriends him, and is one of Dahl’s most iconic works, along with books like Charlie And The Chocolate Factory and Fantastic Mr. Fox.

As a huge fan of the book, I think that this could easily work as a family film, but the landing would have to be stuck with some real class. Given the issues Dreamworks has had so far this year, save for The Help a film like this could do wonders for their slate.

What do you think?
