‘It’s Always Sunny’ Creators Bring Animated Comedy ‘Unsupervised’ To FX

FX, the network behind hit shows like It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Rescue Me, and Sons of Anarchy, has picked up a brand new animated comedy series called Unsupervised.
The series comes from It’s Always Sunny creators (and stars) Rob McElhenney, Charlie Day, and Glenn Howerton‘s RCG Productions banner. It’s part of a recent three–year, $50 million deal between the company and FX. The show is created and executive produced by Rob Rosell, Scott Marder, and David Hornsby, who have also worked on It’s Always Sunny.
Unsupervised follows Gary and Joel, two teenagers who have no parental guidance at all (assumedly along the same lines as Beavis and Butt–Head) who are working their way through all of the problems teenagers face and trying to do the right things (very much unlike Beavis and Butt–Head).
The show has an impressive voice cast already lined up that includes Rosell, Hornsby, Justin Long, Kristen Bell, Fred Armisen, Romany Malco, Kaitlin Olson, and Alexa Vega. [...]

Posted by BAADASSSSS! | September 16th, 2011 at 10:53 am |

Jim Emerson, a film critic for Indiewire, has debuted a new regular video feature at their Press Play blog called In the Cut where he deconstructs cinematic action sequences to examine their flaws and virtues. For his debut episode Emerson has chosen to take an in-depth look at a crucial scene from the 2008 Bat-blockbuster The Dark Knight. You can check out the 20-minute video here below.
Emerson narrates the video, which presents the major second-act action sequence from the Christopher Nolan-directed film, but broken down, carefully analyzed, and illustrated with relevant quotes from creative personnel involved with the film and from other experienced sources [...]

eBook Deal: Robert Jordan’s ‘The Eye of the World’ (The Wheel of Time, Book 1)
 |
Posted by Empress Eve | September 16th, 2011 at 8:33 am |

Amazon is currently running a special on The Eye of the World ebook for the Kindle for only $2.99.
Originally released in 1990, The Eye of the World is the first installment in Robert Jordan‘s lengthy and awesome Wheel of Time book series.
I’m not sure how long this deal with last, so I highly recommend grabbing it while it’s greatly reduced. Wheel of Time is one of my favorite fantasy series and with a price like this, even though I own two copies of the book already, I’m going to get in on this deal too. Text-to-Speech is enabled for this ebook, which is a bonus — either listen along as you read or do what I do and just listen while you exercise. And it’s like a 1,000 pages long, so you get a lot for three bucks.
If you’d like to own a physical copy of The Eye of the World, the book is also available in paperback for only $6.99. The paperback edition is currently part of Amazon’s 4-for-3 promotion, where you can purchase four select items for the price of three (see the Special Offers and Product Promotions section of the product page) [...]

Use The Force For Good: Celebs Re-Enact ‘Star Wars’ Scenes For Stand Up To Cancer

Along with the release of Star Wars: The Complete Saga on Blu-ray tomorrow, Lucasfilm has teamed up with eBay, Major League Baseball, and a number of celebrities to urge fans to “Use the Force for Good” and donate to Stand Up to Cancer, the organization that’s tirelessly funding research in the fight against cancer.
In their mission to bring in as much money as possible to fight this terrible disease, a handful of celebrities were brought in to make a video. In it, the stars—which includes Aziz Ansari, Zach Galifianakis, Bill Hader, Ed Helms, Ken Jeong, Jaime King, Seth Rogen, Andy Samberg, Emma Stone, and Samuel L. Jackson—re–enact various scenes from Star Wars.
You can see the video by heading below now. Might I add that it involves Miss Stone as Princess Leia? Because it does. Not Slave Leia, as I’m sure you all (I) wanted, but Leia nonetheless. For the rest of you, it also has Galifianakis as Leia…so there’s that, too! [...]

New Trailer and Poster For ‘The Muppets’ Parodies ‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’
 |
Posted by BAADASSSSS! | September 15th, 2011 at 7:01 pm |

The feel-good movie of the holiday season is taking a cue from the self-proclaimed “feel-bad movie of Christmas” for the latest round of its marketing campaign. Yes, the new poster and trailer for The Muppets have been released and you can check out both below this article.
There have been several trailers and posters for The Muppets since earlier in the year when the now-classic “Green with Envy” teaser that lured unsuspecting viewers into thinking they were watching a trailer for some new turgid romantic comedy (only to pull the rug out from under them nearly a minute in by bringing on Jim Henson’s iconic creations) was first released [...]

Interview: Guitarist & ‘Game Of Thrones’ Actor Wilko Johnson
 |
Posted by Obi-Dan | September 15th, 2011 at 6:08 pm |

In the early 1970s, deep in the “Thames Delta” in England, a young rhythm and blues band was making a sweaty, chaotic mark on the English music scene. Canvey Island based Dr Feelgood became known for energetic, punk-style sets and guitarist Wilko Johnson was the main attraction. His wild-eyed Angus-Young-in-a-suit (before Angus was in short trousers) performances captivated audiences.
Recently, Dr Feelgood was the subject of a documentary. Directed by Julian Temple, Oil City Confidential is a brilliantly, beautifully constructed film, and Wilko was the star of the show. Not shy on camera, Wilko also has a feature role in the TV show Game of Thrones — that of the King’s mute executioner Ilyn Payne.
I caught up with Wilko on the eve of his latest UK tour. Ever hilarious, he provided the most extraordinary end to any interview I have ever done [...]

Motion Poster For ‘The Darkest Hour’ Arrives
 |
Posted by Cinemumra | September 15th, 2011 at 4:58 pm |

Aliens appear to be the new cinematic flavor of the week.
Be it invasion pictures like Battle: LA or simply films based in a world where aliens exist like District 9, extraterrestrials are a hot commodity in the film world as of this moment. And now it’s Timur Bekmambetov‘s turn. The producer behind the upcoming alien invasion pic The Darkest Hour has just seen a new motion poster for the film released, and I must say, even as a motion poster, it’s kind of bland.
Check it out here below [...]

Fox Eyeing DC’s ‘The Spectre’ For New TV Drama
 |
Posted by MK2Fac3 | September 15th, 2011 at 3:52 pm |

Fox is showing interest in producing a drama adapted from DC Comics character The Spectre, yet another DC property after their recent run with Human Target.
The Spectre was created by Jerry Siegel and Bernard Baily and made his first full appearance in 1940′s More Fun Comics #52. The character is what could be best described as the spirit of vengeance. He is a lost soul who reaps on the wicked. Most recently The Spectre’s human form on Earth as Jim Corrigan was portrayed as a police officer who worked within the pages of one of the best comics of the past ten years, Gotham Central [...]

Conan O’Brien Shows More ‘Star Wars’ Trilogy Changes

There’s been a lot of controversy lately after it was revealed that George Lucas had made some changes to his Star Wars movies for the upcoming release of the Blu-ray set.
But now Lucas has really just gone too far. Conan O’Brien revealed some new footage of some big changes to one of the movie’s major scenes on his show, Conan, and there’s no doubt fans will be grabbing torches and pitchforks after seeing these tweaks (those who believe it to actually be true, anyway).
You can see the video of the new Star Wars changes by heading below now! [...]

Check Out A Chapter From ‘Fables’ Writer Bill Willingham’s New Book
 |
Posted by MK2Fac3 | September 15th, 2011 at 1:07 pm |

Bill Willingham, the mastermind behind the insanely popular Fables comic book series and franchise, has begun to branch out of the universe that he created to begin another universe in the fable/fantasy genre with his new novel Down The Mysterly River.
Bill Willingham obviously has a great talent with putting messages in stories, and the fable is right up his alley, so it’s awesome to expand his talent to a straight up children’s book. He’s written Fables novels in the past, so this is clearly the next step, and I can’t wait to see what he’s got up his sleeve.
The synopsis for Down The Mysterly River can be found here below [...]

Book Review: Ghost Story: A Dresden Files Novel
 |
Posted by Waerloga69 | September 15th, 2011 at 10:13 am |

Ghost Story
A Dresden Files Novel, Book 13
Hardcover | Kindle
Written by Jim Butcher
Roc Publishing
Release date: July 26, 2011
Ghost Story, book 13 of the Dresden Files was extraordinary. And that is saying something considering the fact that I have yet to read a book by Jim Butcher that wasn’t great. But how often do you get to see the protagonist of a book as a ghost? I was really scared for Harry Dresden, what with the prior book having ended with him sinking into the water after being shot. That’s not exactly a healthy prospect for Chicago’s only practicing wizard detective.
Our story starts six months after the last book ends. Chicago has changed immensely during Harry’s absence… and certainly not for the better. The supernatural creatures that once avoided the town have converged upon the Windy City after it became known that Dresden had disappeared. His friends have done their best to protect the citizens, but they don’t have the resources that he did, certainly not the sheer power that he wielded. A lot of other things have changed as well, like his inability to communicate with virtually everyone around him. Luckily, Harry manages to gain the assistance of some old, and unlikely, acquaintances. Conspicuously absent were Thomas, Michael, Elaine, Marcone, and the entire White Council, though they were all referenced at one point or another. My heart hurt a little for the way Murphy and Molly were portrayed in this book. Those last few months were unkind to them both, unfortunately [...]

Oh My! Look At The Size Of ‘The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim’ Collector’s Edition

Early last month Bethesda Softworks announced their Collector’s Edition for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, which, if you’ve been paying attention, is a game I’m more excited about than most get for their firstborn children.
The incredibly limited edition of the game comes with a making of DVD, an art book, and a large dragon statue. But what wasn’t known was just how insanely gigantic the box it comes in would be. As you can see from the image above, if you’ve pre–ordered the Skyrim Collector’s edition, you will need to make some room on your shelf.
If you want to get your hands on it before they’re all gone forever, be sure to pre–order for yourself: Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC. [...]

Make This Happen: Jek Porkins ‘Star Wars’ Pork Skins

As George Lucas continues finding ways to make unnecessary changes to his Star Wars saga and enrage the masses, some fans seem intent on creating fictional food items based on characters from the mythology. And that’s just fine by us.
It began with the amazing new Ben & Jerry’s ice cream flavor, Boba Fett’s Carbonite Crunch (which we’re still waiting for Mr. Ben and Mr. Jerry to actually make), and now comes a salty snack food to enjoy a nice cold beer with: Porkins Fried Pork Skins!
Now, pork rinds won’t be quite as appealing to everyone as a pint of ice cream, but c’mon now, the bag would have Jek freakin’ Porkins on it! That has to count for something, right? [...]

Geek Peek: First Images Of Johnny Depp In Tim Burton’s ‘Dark Shadows’

Some images of Johnny Depp on the set of Tim Burton‘s adaptation of the ’60s Gothic soap opera, Dark Shadows, have shown up online.
In the show Depp plays the vampire Barnabas Collins, and, as you probably expected considering this is another Burton/Depp collaboration, the actor looks pretty wild and outrageous.
You can read a synopsis for the movie and check out more images of Depp as Barnabas by heading below now.
SYNOPSIS
Barnabas (Depp) is rich, powerful and an inveterate playboy until he makes the grave mistake of breaking the heart of Angelique Bouchard (Eva Green). A witch, in every sense of the word, Angelique turns him into a vampire and then buries him alive. More info about “Dark Shadows” after the jump.
Two centuries later, Barnabas is inadvertently freed from his tomb and emerges into the very changed world of 1972. He returns to Collinwood Manor to find that his once-grand estate has fallen into ruin. [...]
