The Torchwood TARDISblend 36: The Gathering
 |
Posted by cGt2099 | September 10th, 2011 at 8:10 pm |

Torchwood: Miracle Day continues and finds our heroes separated across the world, until one chance meeting with Oswald Danes (Bill Pullman) forces the team to reunite and begin to ask the tough question: What is The Blessing?
As they dig deeper, their questions will take them to separate poles of the Earth where they discover that the blood of Jack Harkness (John Barrowman) may have more to do with The Blessing and The Miracle than they previously had thought.
During TARDISblend 36, we review the events of The Gathering, and find ourselves less than enthused about the episode’s inclusion of elements unconnected to the Blessing and the Miracle, such as the Nazi-style Welsh police trackdown of Gwen Cooper’s (Eve Myles) father, Geraint (William Thomas).
Later, we deconstruct Oswald Danes’ arrival in Wales to confront Gwen, another aspect of the episode that felt somewhat out of place. We also discuss the significance of Jack’s blood thus far in the series, and speculate with some predictions on where this thread will go for the season finale.
Finally we throw in a few Classic Torchwood UK recommendations for new fans to check out, and find out what our listeners recently had to say about the podcasts. All this and more on the latest TARDISblend! [...]

Now readers will be able to buy books directly from Apple without having to go through any other apps or sellers.

This all-new graphic novel is written by military expert Captain Dale Dye (USMC, retired) and Dr. Julia Dye. It is being released digitally on the same day it sees release in print.

Digital Comics Deal: Batman 101 Sale
 |
Posted by MK2Fac3 | September 10th, 2011 at 4:00 pm |

DC Comics and ComiXology are offering a really sweet deal this weekend with 101 of their Batman (or Batman related) comics for just $.99 a piece.
The deal only lasts through this weekend — Saturday, September 10, and Sunday, September 11, 2011. So get your Bat-devices ready, because you’re not going to want to miss this.
You can download select titles from Batman-related comics and stories for the iPad, iPhone, any Android device, the iPod Touch, and your own personal computer. Some of the titles on sale are Batman Beyond, Batman: Year One, Batman: The Long Halloween, Batman and Robin, and many more.
This is a really great deal, and although DC did a Batman 101 sale over the New Year’s holiday, this sale is more inclusive with more titles. Also, considering potential new readers from the recent DC Comics relaunch, it’s a great place to get a hold of a lot of classic Batman comics that some people may not have read. Me, though? I’ve read and have copies of all these comics, so I’ll be missing out on the sale. However, you should definitely buy all the comics they’re offering.
Oh, you don’t know what comics they’re offering? Well, here’s a handy little breakdown of all the titles that are on sale [...]

 |
Posted by Cinemumra | September 10th, 2011 at 12:00 pm |

With the Fall festival season now kicking into full gear, we are beginning to see more and more from a cavalcade of films looking to make a splash this Fall.
One of these films happens to be the new project from director Derick Martini, Hick.
MTV has a new clip from the film, which stars Chloe Moretz and Blake Lively, and follows the story of a 13-year-old dealing with her drunken parents. The film premieres at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival, and is one of many smaller indie dramas that will be looking to make some big waves this Fall [...]

Keith Richards’ Autobiography ‘Life’ To Be Made Into A Movie
 |
Posted by BAADASSSSS! | September 10th, 2011 at 11:01 am |

“Keith Richards is shooting heroin into his eyeballs and still touring all right! I’m getting mixed signals! I picture nuclear war and two things surviving: Keith and cockroaches!” – Bill Hicks
Keith Richards, the legendary Rolling Stones guitarist and part-time pirate, is about to become a movie star. Sort of.
A film based on Richards’ best-selling autobiography Life, published last year, is in the works, according to a recent interview the famed Stone gave to the British website The Telegraph after receiving Writer of the Year honors at the GQ Men of the Year Awards. Richards said in the Telegraph interview, “There are feelers out at the minute [but] I’m in no rush right at the moment. Also, how are they going to find me? The idea of a succession of Keith Richards coming down is horrifying.” [...]

Meet Martin In This ‘Human Centipede 2 (Full Sequence)’ Trailer
 |
Posted by MK2Fac3 | September 10th, 2011 at 10:00 am |

This week, my editor decided to punish me because I had been assigned to review the first Human Centipede DVD, but I never did the review. In the interest of full disclosure, however, I had heard details about the film and have been trying to work up the courage to watch it for approximately a year now. My penance for not completing the review is to cover this, the new image and teaser trailer for The Human Centipede 2 (Full Sequence) (which you can watch here below), and if you know about Human Centipede, then the subtitle of the movie should chill your spine and make your stomach churn. Because it definitely did to me. And rightly so [...]

Apparently, Summit Entertainment is going to show us bits and pieces of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 in tiny increments, as they’ve just released a teaser clip from the film’s upcoming theatrical trailer.
Watch all 15 seconds here below.
The teaser clip, in my opinion, is spoilerific, but then again, I feel like everything about this movie has already been revealed [...]

North Carolina Comic Shop Owner Bans ‘Action Comics’, Then Lifts Ban
 |
Posted by MK2Fac3 | September 9th, 2011 at 8:44 pm |

In the most ridiculous news story related comic books this week, North Carolina-based retailer The Comic Conspiracy bans the newly relaunched Action Comics and then lifts the ban two days later.
Why did he ban the comic? Well, in case you don’t read comics, apparently there has been a socialist left-wing liberal agenda that has populated comic books over the past 75 years. And it all came to a head on Wednesday when the Grant Morrison-scripted Action Comics showed Superman utter the horribly offensive “GD.” The shock of reading Superman being hit by an explosion and grunting crossed the line for the comic retailer as he took to his Facebook page and let those commies know what’s what. Here’s a series of those Facebook posts here below.

Christopher Lloyd Returns As Doc Brown For Argentinian Electronics Store Commercial

Christopher Lloyd has decided to reprise his greatest role as an actor in one of the most unusual of all venues. Reverend Jim from Taxi? No. Judge Doom from Who Framed Roger Rabbit? Try again. That exposition-spouting weirdo from Piranha 3D? Three strikes and YER OUT!!!!
No, Lloyd has returned to his role as Dr. Emmett “Doc” Brown from the immortal Back to the Future trilogy, but this time he won’t be joined on his adventure by Michael J. Fox. He’s not even doing this for a movie. Lloyd is playing the good yet kooky scientist and inventor of the flux capacitor (which makes time travel possible, naturally) in a new commercial for Garbarino’s, an electronics store chain in Argentina. You can watch the full commercial here [...]

‘Super’…The Animated Series?!

James Gunn, the former Troma Films writer who hit pay dirt with the script for the 2004 Zack Snyder-directed remake of Dawn of the Dead and made his directorial debut in 2006 with the sci-fi horror comedy Slither, has uncovered something very interesting which he linked to his Twitter feed just recently.
Animation company Toonsmyth Productions has put together a 90-second video trailer for a mock cartoon based on Gunn’s most recent film, the subversive superhero comedy Super that starred Rainn Wilson as a lonely and disturbed man who becomes a costumed crimefighter named the Crimson Bolt, in the hope that some network might pick it up for a series, possibly the Cartoon Network for their Adult Swim line-up. You can watch the video here [...]

Gerard Butler and Lena Heady Back For ’300′ Sequel?
 |
Posted by Cinemumra | September 9th, 2011 at 1:30 pm |

It may not be much, but it appears as though two of the stars of Zack Snyder’s 300 may in fact be back for its sequel.
Entitled 300: Battle Of Artemisia, producer Bernie Goldmann told Movies.com that there is a pair of roles set in place in the film for its original stars, Lena Heady and Gerard Butler. The two starred in the original as the husband and wife who spearhead the film’s narrative, which was both surrounded by a true story (based on the Frank Miller graphic novel), but never worried about expanding a story or facts to make it more, well, cinematic [...]

How Cute! Creepy Little Sam From ‘Trick ‘r Treat’ Is Heading Back To School, Too
 |
Posted by Empress Eve | September 9th, 2011 at 12:30 pm |

I don’t recall Back To School being equated with Halloween, but all this week, all I’ve been hearing about is how kids are going back to school and what Halloween costumes they should wear.
Therefore, director Michael Dougherty‘s new promo for the Trick ‘r Treat Halloween marathon at FEARnet is quite appropriate. In the new promo, Sam, the movie’s little terror in a burlap sack mask, is also heading back to school, though his schoolmates might want to watch what they do around him.
Watch the new promo video here below, which really is so adorable… in a creepy way [...]

Fox and Dreamworks Teaming Up For Steven Spielberg’s ‘Robopocalypse’
 |
Posted by Cinemumra | September 9th, 2011 at 11:50 am |

Who better to force two studios to team up than one Steven Spielberg.
According to THR, both Fox and DreamWorks will be co-financing Spielberg’s upcoming sci-fi film, Robopocalypse. The film will be hitting theaters on July 3, 2013, and will be based on the novel penned by Daniel H. Wilson.
The story follows “the fate of the human race following a robot uprising,” and while the premise may sound cliche, the idea of Spielberg jumping back into the world of sci-fi action films really makes this one project to keep a huge eye on [...]
