When it comes to incomprehensible titles, we may have just found a new champion.

Originally known as Bop Decameron, director Woody Allen has shifted the title of his next film, a Rome-set picture starring Jesse Eisenberg, Ellen Page, Alec Baldwin, Penelope Cruz, Roberto Benigni, Judy Davis, and Greta Gerwig. It’ll now be known as, get this, Nero Fiddled.

All joking aside, the title refers to the idea that the Roman Emperor Nero fiddled whilst watching Rome come to an end, in a fire which he found himself being blamed for. At this point, all possible thoughts about what the film really will follow have been tossed out the window. What we do know is that the film will consists of four stories, two featuring Americans and the other two with Italians.

Personally, I love the new title, despite how confounding it is. I really like the way it sounds, and I think that it offers a lot of exciting routes for the film to go, if the title is indeed evocative of what the film will be looking at. Here’s to hoping it’s as inventive as the title it has, as this recent rash of films from Allen have been beyond fantastic.
