Marvel’s Next Big Thing Starts With ‘Point One’ Oversized One-Shot

Culturesmash   |

Point One Banner

2011 isn’t even over yet and Marvel is already teasing 2012 Summer events. They’re laying the ground work early with a new epic one shot called Point One from a bevy of creators to get us all pumped to drop cash on new series and story arcs next year.

The talent behind this epic one-shot is definitely strong with writing by Jeph Loeb, Brian Michael Bendis, Matt Fraction, Ed Brubaker, Fred Van Lente, Chris Yost, and David Lapham and art by Ed McGuiness, Bryan Hitch, Terry Dodson, Salvador Larroca, Ryan Stegma, Javier Pulido, and Roberto De La Torre. Look for Point One on store shelves on November 21, 2011.

“Point One is a massive one-shot of 64 all-new pages of story by the top creators in the business, setting the stage for the biggest stories coming in 2012. It is the starting point to what’s in store for the world’s most iconic characters and startling events. Point One serves as the launch pad for dynamic new series, the return of fan-demanded characters, and a shocking teaser that will have everyone talking. See how all it comes together in one gigantic epic!” – Tom Brevoort, Senior Vice President, Executive Editor

Marvel needs something to get us all excited again. While Fear Itself has actually been better than many critics anticipated it still just didn’t catch fire the way Civil War did. That may end up being the greater problem because Civil War was a little underwhelming and it tied into Siege which was also bloated storytelling. These events may have jaded some Marvel fans. Let’s hope this new one shot is the beginning of some exciting new story that’ll revitalize the brand the way the 52 reboots are pumping new life into the DC Universe.
