From a Roland Emmerich Shakespeare picture, to Bryan Singer’s long talked about Battlestar Galactica project, writer John Orloff is having quite an intriguing career.
THR is reporting that Orloff is in talks with Universal to write the script for Singer’s much awaited adaptation of the beloved ’70s TV franchise, which for the first time in its run, is truly starting to move forward in production.
The film won’t connect to this recent Syfy series run, and will reboot “the story of far-flung humans searching for a long-lost colony on a planet named Earth while being chased by a race of robots known as Cylons.”
Orloff is one of the more interesting writers around, particularly having films like A Mighty Heart on his filmography, making this a really cool choice for a writer. I’m a huge fan of the guy, and think that the combination of Singer, Orloff and the source material is a perfect cinematic threesome. Hopefully it will live up to that potential.
