$5 MP3 Album Deal: ‘Rockin’ The Suburbs’ By Ben Folds
 |
Posted by SoAndyway | October 28th, 2011 at 8:30 pm |

If you’re a music geek who likes their mp3 downloads nice and legal, you should go check out the this month’s sale over at Amazon’s MP3 store where they have 100 albums on sale for $5 each from various genres and artists. Most of these albums have ten or more tracks, and with single MP3s going for at least 99 cents, this deal gives you way more tuneage for your buck.
There are several excellent albums being offered for the rest of October, but my personal favorite of the bunch would have to be Rockin’ The Suburbs by Ben Folds, again for only $5 [...]

Then he turned his attention to address grievances fans of the Indiana Jones series had with the previous sequel, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. [...]

‘Avenging Spider-Man’ Gets Free Digital Copy Codes

Marvel is constantly working on ways to further embrace the digital evolution of comics without freaking out retailers. Earlier this month at New York Comic-Con, The House of Ideas announced that the premiere issue of the new series Avenging Spider-Man will come with a code for a free digital copy of the comic. The overwhelming popularity of the program in pre-orders has now inspired Marvel to go ahead and offer the codes for the entire first arc of the series. This means that issues 1, 2, and 3 of the series will be polybagged with a code for a digital copy of the issue [...]

DC Relaunch: A Marvel Fan’s Take On DC’s New 52

Since I’ve been reading comics I’ve always leaned toward Marvel’s more grounded real world approach to storytelling. That doesn’t take anything from DC’s more sci-fi approach; Marvel’s books were just my preference. Marvel’s characters seem of the era in which they are written and they live in real cities and deal with real issues, whereas DC’s characters live in fictional cities and even though they go through real drama, it always felt like it happened through a generally less gritty existence. Hardcore DC fans may disagree with me and that’s fine. After all, this discussion is from a Marvel fan’s perspective and as a Marvel fan this has always been my perception of DC books. I have read some DC. I’ve always been a fan of Green Lantern, Action Comics, the Justice League and the grittiest book in DC’s line up Batman [...]

Posted by Cinemumra | October 28th, 2011 at 12:02 pm |

Now that his antics have appeared to have died down, Charlie Sheen has just gotten some damn good news.
The FX Network has announced that they have picked up the rights to the actor’s new TV sitcom, Anger Management.
The show will be loosely based on the 2003 flick of the same name, and finds the controversial former Two and a Half Men star heading back into the TV game, and this time, with a load of intrigue behind him [...]

Tim Burton’s ‘Dark Shadows’ Adds Alice Cooper To The Cast

After being on the receiving of some mighty bad buzz last month all has been quiet on the production front of Tim Burton‘s big-screen adaptation of the classic Gothic soap opera Dark Shadows. But a recent development has temporarily shone the spotlight on the movie in the form of the recently-announced casting of Alice Cooper, the star of such films as Sextette, Monster Dog, Prince of Darkness, and Freddy’s Dead: The Final Nightmare (his performance as Freddy Krueger’s stepfather had Oscar gold written all over it-damn you Jack Palance). Apparently when Cooper isn’t acting he’s indulging his secret passion for making music, something he has been doing for more than four decades. Who knew? [...]

Scripts For ‘Independence Day 2 & 3′ Almost Complete; Fox Willing To Make Without Will Smith

Last time we heard about the discussed sequels to 1996′s Independence Day, it was just whispers and not much was thought of the rumor at the time.
Now it looks like the movies are much more likely to happen than was once thought. So much so that it’s being reported that director Roland Emmerich and screenwriter Dean Devlin are finishing up work on scripts for Independence Day 2 and Independence Day 3, with hopes being that they will be completed by mid-December. The plan as it stands right now is for the movies to be filmed back-to-back, which is quickly becoming the preferred production method for two planned sequels. [...]

Comic Review: Snarked #1

Snarked #1

Colors by Rachelle Rosenberg, Matthew Wilson
Covers by Roger Langridge, Chris Samnee
BOOM! Studios
Release Date: October 5, 2011
Cover Price: $3.99
All-ages comics are an interesting genre. A creator must be able to tell a story that can appeal to a wide age-range while also keeping it visually and thematically dynamic. More often than not creators try to use broad strokes to tell their all age’s story. If you are trying to make something for a broad demographic, why not use universally funny or silly concepts so everyone can appreciate it, right? But the issue is that while trying to capture these collectively “funny” or “childlike” themes writers often lose control of a story just they can throw in another gag. Luckily Roger Langridge‘s Snarked avoids this pitfall and tells a smart, quirky, and most importantly fun story that anyone can appreciate [...]

First Images From Tim Burton’s ‘Frankenweenie’ Released

Tim Burton was working for Disney as an animator in 1984 when he made his live-action directorial debut with a darkly funny short film about a young boy who takes a cue from a horror classic to bring his beloved pet dog Sparky back to life after being hit by a car, and that twisted little gem got him fired as a result when the company deemed it too unusual to bother with a legitimate release. After more than a quarter of a century Frankenweenie is being resurrected by Burton as a 3D, black and white, stop-motion animated feature and Entertainment Weekly has released the first stills from the movie. You can check it out here below [...]

McG To Direct ‘Puzzle Palace’
 |
Posted by Cinemumra | October 27th, 2011 at 8:06 pm |

There are some directors in the world that, whenever a new project is announced, one is automatically excited. Almodovar. Scorsese. These are just a few of the names that fit that bill. However, some directors stain any project once their name is attached, making it an uphill battle for that said piece.
McG fits that specific description.
And now he’s found a brand new film. THR is reporting that the horribly-monikered filmmaker will direct Puzzle Palace, based on a script from hot writer, David Guggenheim [...]

Karl Urban and Ben Barnes Replace Matthew Goode and Alex Pettyfer In ‘Overdrive’
 |
Posted by Cinemumra | October 27th, 2011 at 7:00 pm |

People just can’t get enough of their car-focused action dramas.
THR is reporting that the team of Ben Barnes, Karl Urban, and Emilia Clarke have all joined the cast of the upcoming film, Overdrive, which itself is set to be produced by one Luc Besson.
The film was originally set to find Matthew Goode and Alex Pettyfer in the Urban/Barnes roles, but has apparently been shaken up, with the Game Of Thrones star Clarke tossed in for good measure. Story wise, the film will follow the story of two brothers who get into hot water with a crime boss after moving to the south of France [...]

Watch The Trailer For ‘The Lorax’
 |
Posted by Cinemumra | October 27th, 2011 at 6:00 pm |

One of the trickier names to try and adapt for the big screen has been Dr. Seuss. Be it the fallible live-action takes on The Grinch and The Cat In The Hat or the shockingly watchable Horton Hears A Who, the big screen takes on Seuss’ works have been hit or miss.
And now it’s The Lorax’s turn.
The first trailer for the upcoming Chris Renaud-directed take on the tale has hit, and it is quite stunning. Watch it here below [...]

‘Man of Steel’ Co-Writer David S. Goyer Conjures ‘Da Vinci’s Demons’

David S. Goyer, the prolific screenwriter behind some of the most successful comic book-based movies made in the past fifteen years (including Batman Begins, the Blade movies, and the upcoming Superman film, Man of Steel), is hoping his big-screen success finally translates to the small screen. After nurturing such short-lived television series as Flash Forward, Threshold, Blade (based on the three-film franchise he wrote, the third and final one he also directed), and FreakyLinks, Goyer is returning to the cathode realm with his latest creation, a new series entitled Da Vinci’s Demons. The show will be the first to be produced under a new multi-year agreement Starz Entertainment signed with BBC Worldwide Productions over the summer [...]

First Look At ‘The Three Stooges’
 |
Posted by Cinemumra | October 27th, 2011 at 3:00 pm |

While this labor of love for the Farrelly Brothers has taken quite a bit of time and pain to get to the big screen, we finally have our first look at the cast of the upcoming adaptation of The Three Stooges.
The film stars Will Sasso, Sean Hayes, and Chris Diamantopoulos as Curly, Larry and Moe, respectively, and I must say, this looks absolutely awful [...]
