There are friendships, and then there are partnerships that span careers. That’s what there is between the team of Guillermo del Toro and Ron Perlman. And that doesn’t appear to be changing anytime soon.
In an interview with Wired, the director confirmed that Perlman will star in his upcoming film, Pacific Rim, joining Idris Elba, Charlie Day, and Charlie Hunnam. Perlman’s involvement isn’t all that shocking, as he’s been around del Toro’s films ever since his first feature, Cronos, but it’s no less an exciting announcement. I’m a huge fan of the pair, and the idea of del Toro working on a monster flick with this cast, makes me insanely interested.
Perlman’s involvement is just the icing on what is one hell of a great cake. If there was ever a man to really bring back the monster movie, it is del Toro. Toss in the fact that the film starts shooting this week, and there is a lot to be excited for here.
