‘Borat’ Star Sacha Baron Cohen Lands Small Role In Quentin Tarantino’s ‘Django Unchained’

The Movie God   |

Sacha Baron Cohen

One of the many things that director Quentin Tarantino is known for is putting together great casts for his movies; even for some of the smaller characters he has, such as Mike Myers in Inglourious Basterds for example. It sounded strange when first reported, but worked out great in the final product.

Perhaps not quite as strange as that particular casting, it’s being reported that Tarantino has chosen Sacha Baron Cohen for a small role in his upcoming movie, Django Unchained. [...]

Deluxe Edition of Classic KISS Album ‘Destroyer’ Coming With Original Cover

cGt2099   |

KISS

It is a move mirroring the historical sequence of events in the 1970′s: Hot off the heels on his work with Alice Cooper‘s Welcome 2 My Nightmare, long time rock producer Bob Ezrin is reportedly back in the studio remixing the classic KISS album Destroyer, which celebrated its 35th anniversary this year.

Gene Simmons announced that the album will be re-released as a Deluxe Edition during 2012 complete with unreleased tracks, and the original artwork designed by Ken Kelly. Destroyer, along with the band’s breakthrough live album KISS Alive!, is frequently pointed to as a significant album for the band — it was a solid stepping stone to the heights of success they would claim in the late Seventies, and serve as a major influence for many bands ranging from the lightest of popular rock through to the darkest of black metal [...]

Wow. I don’t know about you but when I read comics, I like to have fun. Jack Avarice is The Courier delivers that at a level I haven’t seen in YEARS. This comic should have been published a long time ago, because it’s something that’s been lacking in the comic market for a long time. At its heart, it’s a fun spy-action book and so much more. Let’s get the obvious comparisons out of the way. This book is NOT Danger Girl without hot women, it’s NOT Chuck, it’s really unlike anything that I’ve come across before. But, what it is, is pure 100% AWESOME [...]

It has been rumored for some time, but yesterday it has been made official: the original Black Sabbath line-up is back together for a new tour (their first together since 1997) and their first full studio album since 1978′s Never Say Die. The press conference announcement — embedded at the bottom of this post — was hosted by Henry Rollins, a long-time Sabbath fan.

The next Black Sabbath release is to be produced by Rick Rubin, famous for his work with Slayer, for his work with Johnny Cash during the Man In Black’s final years, and bringing Metallica back to form with their Death Magnetic album [...]

‘Modern Warfare 3′ Shoots ‘Battlefield 3′ Feud Dead With Record-Setting $400 Million First Day

The Movie God   |

Modern Warfare 3

Despite much drama and what looked like a significant potential fanbase loss, Activision has done it again, breaking the day-one video game release record for the third consecutive year with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.

In its first 24 hours the game sold 6.5 million copies (including its record-breaking pre-orders), which equals out to $400 million. That breaks last year’s record of $360 million set by Call of Duty: Black Ops, and the prior year’s record of $310 million set by Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. [...]

Stephen Fry In America
Netflix Streaming
DVD | Blu-ray
Directed by John-Paul Davidson and Michael Waldman
Starring Stephen Fry, Morgan Freeman, Ted Turner, Jimmy Wales
BBC
Originally Released: November 17, 2008

Stephen Fry has become quite popular among the Internet Generation in the United States, and it was with great delight that I noticed Netflix had finally released his documentary miniseries, Stephen Fry In America, to their streaming catalog.

Known among many of our readers as the delicious and mischievous liberal media identity from V for Vendetta, I find it extremely agreeable that many of my American peers are beginning to discover a lot of Fry’s other work, from his comedy days with Hugh Laurie, to his current and ongoing panel series from the BBC called QI [...]

I love Pixar movies. And I don’t just mean that loosely; I mean I truly and honestly LOVE Pixar movies. From that first wide-eyed viewing of Toy Story back in 1995 to today, they’ve released some of the best (and some of my own personal favorite) movies of all time.

Even my least favorite Pixar movie—2006′s Cars—is a movie I still very much enjoy, despite the fact that I went in thinking I wouldn’t be a fan (shame on me for thinking such things about a Pixar flick). [...]

‘Gotham City Impostors’ Gets A Release Date and Beta

MK2Fac3   |

Gotham City Impostors

The team behind the upcoming first-person shooter Gotham City Impostors announced on Thursday that the game would be getting an open beta starting in December before their scheduled release date for the Playstation Network, XBox Live, and the PC on January 10, 2012.

The upcoming game will be based around the storyline of David Hine, Scott McDaniel, and Andy Owens’ short run of Detective Comics #866-870 which told the story of Gotham City being overrun by two feuding gangs, one that was influenced by The Joker, and one that was influenced by The Batman. The Jokerz began committing harmless crimes against society for the pure idea of having fun, but at the expense of others to the point where they became out of control, which led to a group of policemen and concerned citizens to take the law into their own hands when they mobilized far enough to take the lives of the other gangs. The story is quite good as an out of continuity comic story, so if you haven’t read it, check it out [...]

Dead Man's Run #0

Dead Man’s Run #0
Written by Greg Pak
Illustrated by Tony Parker
Colored by Peter Steigerwald
Lettered by Josh Reed

Aspen Comics
Release Date: November 2, 2011
Cover Price: $2.50

When the first page of a comic has someone buying beer, you just know it’s going to be a good read. Dead Man’s Run #0 has just that…of course, there is way more to it than that. It’s the prison break from Hell, literally. Our main guide through this short ride is Captain Romero, a man who is definitely no saint. Many references to his past are made, but none explain it. Mysterious, ashen-faced female Wardens and demonic Generals also add to the Hellish scene that we witness within the City of Corruption, located under the Pyramid. Sadly, the story pauses just as it gets started…but we all expect that in issue #0, right? [...]
