Kino International
Originally Released: March 14, 2009
I can’t think of a better selection for our first Netflix Streaming review than by taking a look at the myth and the legend behind Winnebago Man, otherwise known as Jack Rebney. This documentary, first and foremost, begins as a keystone indicator of the Internet Age. While online connectivity and the ever-developing growth of the world wide web has changed our perspective over the last decade, it became broadened even further with the debut of a web site that we all seem to take for granted now: YouTube [...]

Comic Review: Doctor Who, Vol. II #9
 |
Posted by cGt2099 | November 3rd, 2011 at 8:21 pm |

Doctor Who Volume II: Issue #9
Written by Tony Lee
Art by Josh Adams
Colors by Rachelle Rosenberg
Letters by Neil Uyetake
Covers by Mark Buckingham, Charlie Kirchoff, and Ben Templesmith
IDW Publishing
Release Date: October 05, 2011
Cover Price: $3.99
The major point you need to know about this issue of IDW’s Doctor Who, is that while the Doctor is with Rory and Amy, he has a new companion.
An intelligent robot dinosaur called Kevin the Tyrannosaurus.
This concept is as ridiculous as it is brilliant! The writers obviously leave it unexplained how Kevin enters and exits the TARDIS, but his sheer presence in this issue is marvelous. For all intents and purposes, Kevin becomes the celebrity of this Doctor Who comic, playing a pivotal role as the story reaches its conclusion [...]

Dark Horse Comics Announces New BioWare ‘Dragon Age’ Series
 |
Posted by MK2Fac3 | November 3rd, 2011 at 7:07 pm |

Dark Horse Comics announced on this week that they will be teaming with video game giants BioWare to publish a brand new comic book series based off the hugely popular Dragon Age franchise.
The most interesting thing about the new 6-issue limited series is that it will be written by the lead writer of the Dragon Age video games, David Gaider. So, instead of feeling just like an ordinary adaptation or another author’s interpretation of the story, the comic will take Dragon Age fans further into the mythos of the RPG series [...]

A Rumored Lack Of Funds Shuts Down Production Of ‘Riddick’

The production of Riddick, the latest in the sci-fi action franchise starring Vin Diesel as a fearsome criminal antihero with exceptional night vision, was well underway before it was shut down reportedly due to a severe cash flow shortage.
TMZ spoke with Michel Trudel, the owner of the studio in Montreal where the film was shooting, who said that Diesel’s production company One Race Films has failed to make its payments for the use of his facilities on time. As a result Trudel states that he was forced to evict the Riddick cast and crew from the studio and even changed the locks until he is paid in full. He’s not alone there; according to unnamed sources close to the production, more than a few members of the crew have not received their paychecks in over two weeks [...]

Comic Review: Gate 7, Vol. 1

Gate 7, Vol. 1
Story and Art by CLAMP
Dark Horse Comics
Release Date: October 5, 2011
Cover Price: $10.99
Manga titles are not typically on my reading list, but I am an old school anime fan and open minded to new comics, so this release from Dark Horse seemed to be a good bet. Gate 7 is the opening act of a new story from the creators of the wildly popular Cardcapture Sakura and it’s been brought to the States by Dark Horse. Sounds good so far…
In this fantastical story a high school boy investigates the beautiful temples of Kyoto. He has long been fascinated with these temples and in this opening act he finds even more than he ever could have hoped for. He stumbles on two men and a woman using magical powers to do battle with monsters. They have many special abilities, but are shocked when their power to make people forget doesn’t work on this odd young man [...]
