Behold! The ‘Doctor Who’ Meets ‘Chrono Trigger’ With A Hint Of ‘Bill & Ted’ Crossover

I’ve not seen one minute of Doctor Who. I’ve not played one second of Chrono Trigger, the hit 1995 Super Nintendo game. But I do know that both have a passionate fanbase, and I do also know that this crossover video of the two worlds meeting made me chuckle with gusto.
Oh, right…and I love Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure.
The video is brief—only a little over a minute long—but will be well worth the time of anyone who’s fond of these titles. [...]

Marvel Cancels ‘X-23′ and ‘Ghost Rider’, ‘Black Panther’ and ‘PunisherMax’ To End
 |
Posted by Henchman21 | November 17th, 2011 at 8:00 pm |

It has been a bad couple of days if you are a low-selling Marvel comic, as the company put the axe to a couple of series, while two others were brought to their planned conclusion. Word came down Tuesday that Marvel was canceling X-23, the story of the young, female clone of Wolverine, as written by Marjorie Liu. That same day, word came down that Jason Aaron’s PunisherMax would be coming to an end, with the rumor originally being that the series was canceled with issue #22. However, Aaron revealed via Twitter that the series was coming to the ending he had planned for the book, and that it was just coming to an end, not actually canceled [...]

Paolo Rivera Reunites With The Man Without Fear In ‘Daredevil #7′

Paolo Rivera is one of those Marvel artists that just seems to pop up on every book the company publishes. His stay is just usually short consisting of mostly one-shots. He’s previously done one-shots for Captain America, Spectacular Spider-Man, and X-Men. He has previously worked on Daredevil and did a brief run on Amazing Spider-Man. Now he’s back on Daredevil teaming with writer Mark Waid to start a new story arc for the blind superhero.
Marvel says in their press release for this book that issue #7 featuring Rivera/Waid is “a perfect jumping on point in the life of Matt Murdock.” Just in case you didn’t know Matt Murdock is the man behind the mask [...]

 |
Posted by Cinemumra | November 17th, 2011 at 5:00 pm |

Now this is a project this writer can truly get behind.
According to THR, Illumination Entertainment is set to take on a big-screen adaptation of the beloved animated character, Woody Woodpecker.
Woody Woodpecker will be penned by John Altschuler and Dave Krinsky (Blades Of Glory), and at this point, that’s pretty much all we really know about the project [...]

It seems that R.A. Salvatore is everywhere these days. And I love it! He and his son, Geno Salvatore, are writing all-new adventures for Drizzt in The Legend Of Drizzt: Neverwinter Tales #3. I’m always a sucker for new dark elf adventures. I miss his old allies but, as with all stories, things change. As always he has Guenhwyvar with him, plus his unique unicorn steed. Dahlia, his dark-hearted elven companion, accompanies him as well. Unfortunately, I didn’t read the first two issues, so I’m playing catch up with this one…luckily, it wasn’t difficult [...]

Deadline is reporting, and subsequently confirming rumors, that there is indeed a fourth feature being worked on in the Friday franchise. The news first broke when actor Tiny Lister revealed that he’s beginning to chat with Ice Cube to get moving on a fourth film in the franchise, which Cube is currently in talks with New Line to write, produce, and star in, with the possibility of also directing. New Posters For ‘The Muppets’ Parody ‘The Twilight Saga’

The folks over at Den of Geek have gotten their hands on three new posters for Disney’s The Muppets, which is set to hit theaters on November 23.
The marketing campaign for The Muppets has come with a great deal of hilarious parody, and today is no different. The three new posters are a twist on the three main characters of The Twilight Saga, Edward Cullen, Bella Swan, and Jacob Black (I knew these names off the top of my head—pardon me while I take a scorching hot shower and have a good cry). [...]

With the first film in the beloved franchise still looking to hit theaters, the wheels are turning for a sequel, an adaptation of the second novel, Catching Fire. Director Gary Ross is busy still working on the first film, so with him set to direct its sequel, a writer is being eyed, and Deadline is reporting that it may in fact be Slumdog Millionaire scribe Simon Beaufoy. Ron Perlman Confirmed For Guillermo Del Toro’s ‘Pacific Rim’
 |
Posted by Cinemumra | November 16th, 2011 at 11:34 pm |

There are friendships, and then there are partnerships that span careers. That’s what there is between the team of Guillermo del Toro and Ron Perlman. And that doesn’t appear to be changing anytime soon.
In an interview with Wired, the director confirmed that Perlman will star in his upcoming film, Pacific Rim, joining Idris Elba, Charlie Day, and Charlie Hunnam. Perlman’s involvement isn’t all that shocking, as he’s been around del Toro’s films ever since his first feature, Cronos, but it’s no less an exciting announcement. [...]

Surprise! Ricky Gervais Set To Host Golden Globes Yet Again

Either comedian Ricky Gervais has some incredible mind control superpowers, or the Hollywood Foreign Press has a very, very short memory.
It’s being reported that Gervais will be returning to host the Golden Globes on January 15, marking his third time on the job in a row.
The amusing thing about all of this is that Gervais has gone out onto the stage the past two years, drink in hand, and thrown down viciously hilarious performances, laying waste to any and everyone in sight. [...]

Comic Review: G.I. Joe A Real American Hero #172

G.I. Joe A Real American Hero #172
Written by Larry Hama
Art by S L Gallant
Inks by Gary Erskine
Colors by J. Brown
Letters by Neil Uyetake
Covers by S L Gallant & Gary Erskine, Herb Trimpe & Larry Hama
IDW Publishing
Release Date: November 16th, 2011
Cover Price: $3.99
Every month, G.I. Joe A Real American Hero makes me feel like I’m 10 years old again. And I mean that in a good way. Back in the early 2000s, Devil’s Due Publishing got Larry Hama to write a G.I. Joe title and it was met with…let’s just say, less than enthusiastic reviews and sales. So, what happened in the last 10 years to change everything? I’m guessing Larry Hama went and trained with the Arashakage Clan. It was either that, or IDW & Hasbro said, “Hey, you’re Larry Hama! Write whatever you want!” And now, we get to enjoy the results every month [...]

Darkseid Re-Emerges In The New 52
 |
Posted by MK2Fac3 | November 16th, 2011 at 8:00 pm |

On Monday, DC Comics announced and revealed Jim Lee‘s newly redesigned Jack Kirby-created ultra villain Darkseid.
As you can tell by my writer profile, Darkseid is one of my favorite villains, so seeing that there was a redesign at all was a bit of a letdown, personally. You see, the current story arc in Geoff Johns and Jim Lee’s mega popular Justice League is a story centering around Apokoliptian technology coming to Earth, which of course means that Darkseid is behind all of the madness torturing DC’s top heroes. Jim Lee and company have been busy redesigning a lot of characters, so it’s no surprise that they decided to touch Darkseid, as well [...]

How An Odd KISS Album Influenced ‘The Matrix’
 |
Posted by cGt2099 | November 16th, 2011 at 7:00 pm |

November 16 marks the 30th anniversary of a bizarre album release by the band KISS. It was called Music From The Elder, and was initially confusing to the followers of the band. The album was based on a concept, a story focusing on The One who would be guided by a chap called Morpheus.
Wait a minute? Isn’t that the story of The Matrix?
Yes, it is. In fact, it is my contention that the Wachowski Brothers were influenced by the story behind KISS’ Music From The Elder — and contributed significantly to the character growth and plot of their saga.
It’s clear that the Wachowski’s were influenced by a vast number of elements in the creation of the franchise [...]
