While nothing is official yet, it looks like HBO is pondering possibly ordering not only season 3 of their hit series Game of Thrones, but a fourth season as well. And if they do, the plan will apparently be to film the two seasons back-to-back, which has become a popular option with movies.
The strategy would be attempted in order to best tackle book three in author George R.R. Martin‘s A Song of Ice and Fire series, titled A Storm of Swords. The plan was always to do one season of the show for each book in the series, but it became obvious that the contents of A Storm of Swords wasn’t going to fit in just one season, and so options have been discussed.
According to Winter is Coming, various sources have said that the cast and crew in Northern Ireland have been told to prepare for for a lengthy nine-month shoot next year. But whether this will all actually happen probably won’t be known until closer to when season 2 is set to begin.
Game of Thrones is so good you can’t help but fear its cancellation considering the massive budget it comes with, so the announcement of two new seasons would be very much exciting to hear.
What do you think of the possibility of HBO filming back-to-back seasons to cover A Storm of Swords.
