Happy Birthday Ozzy Osbourne!

Obi-Dan   |

Today, December 3, 2011, heavy metal legend Ozzy Osbourne celebrates his 63rd birthday!

He may be into pensionable age now, but the Prince Of Darkness shows no signs of slowing down. Just weeks ago it was announced that he will reunite once again with his Black Sabbath bandmates Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward for a new album and extensive tour next year.

Ozzy has been at the top of the metal tree for over 40 years since Sabbath’s eponymous debut in 1970. Another seven albums later including Paranoid and Master Of Reality, Ozzy was fired from the band and went on to become a hugely successful solo artist. His albums such as Blizzard of Ozz, Diary Of A Madman, Bark At The Moon and are still held in very high regard by us metal heads. Ozzy became known for working with some of the most talented young guitarists of their time – Jake E. Lee, Zakk Wylde, Gus G, and the legendary Randy Rhoads.

His infamous tales of dove-chomping, ant-sniffing, and binge drinking have been told countless times, most recently in this year’s excellent documentary, God Bless Ozzy Osbourne and his autobiography I Am Ozzy is one of the funniest and most unbelievably honest books I have ever read.

I am a big fan of Ozzy’s solo work and his ground-breaking songs from his Black Sabbath days. Now fully sober, I am excited to see what Ozzy has in store for us in the near future.

From all of us here at Geeks of Doom, happy birthday, Ozzy!

Happy 63rd birthday, Ozzy!  You’ve left behind an amazing legacy as Godfather of Metal, but your greatest achievement is that you’re still alive after you’ve done and endured!  Can’t wait for the new Black Sabbath album and tour.  Rock on, Ozzy; never say die!!!!!!!!!!!!  m/  m/
