Yearn no longer, my fellow geeks, as the first theatrical trailer for The Dark Knight Rises has finally been unleashed upon us, and it is pretty freakin’ spectacular.
I shall delay you no longer—you can check out the brand new trailer by heading on over to the other side now! [...]

Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows
Directed by Guy Ritchie
Starring Robert Downey Jr., Jude Law, Jared Harris, Noomi Rapace, Stephen Fry, Rachel McAdams, Kelly Reily

Sherlock Holmes (Robert Downey Jr.) is back, and this time he is facing the greatest challenge of his life. His former partner, Dr. John Watson (Jude Law) has moved on with his life as he prepares to wed Mary Watson (Kelly Reily). Holmes is left alone to let his mind wander between his latest inventions (which include “urban camouflage” and adrenalin shots) and ongoing investigation in crimes which nobody else even believes are even happening.
Though the story of Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows continues roughly where the first film left off, an unknown amount of time has passed. In that time, Holmes has become increasingly erratic as he obsessively tracks what he believes is an international scheme by Professor James Moriarty (Jared Harris) [...]

Comic Review: Flash Gordon Archives, Vol. 5
 |
Posted by PS Hayes | December 18th, 2011 at 6:00 pm |

Flash Gordon Archives, Vol. 5
Written by John Warner, Bruce Jones, George Kashdan
Art by Carlos Garzon, Gene Fawcette, Al Williamson, Frank Bolle, Al McWilliams
Introduction by Michael T. Gilbert
Dark Horse Comics
Release Date: December 14th, 2011
Cover Price: $49.99
Collected in Flash Gordon Archives, Vol. 5 are 10 issues of the Whitman Flash Gordon series (28-37) including issues 31-33 which were an adaptation of the 1980 Flash Gordon movie. Talk about a treasure trove of excitement! Nearly 300 pages of classic comics reprinted and restored, and believe me, the book is totally worth the price.
These are, obviously, stories from another time. Comics were written a lot different then. There were no suck thing as “story arcs.” A comic was either a story told in one issue or a story that simply never really stopped, just continued from issue to issue. [...]

Comic Review: Red Sonja #60
 |
Posted by PS Hayes | December 18th, 2011 at 3:00 pm |

Red Sonja #60
Story by Eric Trautmann
Pencils by Patrick Berkenkotter
Colors by Marcio Freire
Letters by Troy Peteri
Covers by Fabiano Neves, Walter Geovani
Dynamite Entertainment
Release Date: December 14th, 2011
Cover Price: $3.99
5 years of publishing at Dynamite and this book is still going strong! And Red Sonja #60 proves why it’s not going anyplace anytime soon. While not trying to change the world or win an Eisner, this book accomplished what it sets out to do-tell a fun tale of everyone’s favorite She-Devil with a sword!
I was not familiar with writer Eric Trautmann until a couple of weeks ago when I read his FANTASTIC Flash Gordon: Zeitgeist #1. And while I’m not a regular Red Sonja reader right now, I’ll be honest, the fact that he wrote it weighed heavily on my choosing to review it. I was NOT disappointed. [...]

Dark Horse Collects The Entirety Of Brian Wood’s ‘Channel Zero’
 |
Posted by MK2Fac3 | December 18th, 2011 at 1:30 pm |

Dark Horse Comics has announced that the publishing company will be collecting the entirety of Brian Wood‘s critically acclaimed Channel Zero comic book series.
Released originally in 1997, Channel Zero was a vision of a future that was not precisely what we hope and dream of. Wood’s first real voyage in the comic book industry told a story that was forward thinking for its time, while still being relevant today. Themes such as freedom of expression, surveillance, media infiltration and computer manipulation are prevalent through the pages of this politically charged graphic work. And readers that may enjoy Brian Wood’s work on other stories may not realize that the majority of Channel Zero was both written and drawn by Wood. [...]

It’s being reported that negotiations have began with French actress Eva Green for the job, which would see her playing Artemisia, a “ruthless, gold-covered goddess” who pushes the God-king Xerxes to build his massive army. [...]

Book Review: Darth Paper Strikes Back: An Origami Yoda Book
 |

Darth Paper Strikes Back
An Origami Yoda Book
By Tom Angleberger
Amulet Books
Hardcover
Release Date: August 23, 2011
Darth Paper Strikes Back was extraordinarily entertaining. Granted, I went into it without much as far as expectations go. I was unsure how much I was going to enjoy a young adult novel, especially a sequel to another one I had never read. But, lo and behold, it was cute and I found myself reminiscing about my middle school years. Not that I had a lot of Star Wars stuff or anything. Okay, maybe I did, don’t judge me! But in all honesty, the book deals more with interpersonal relations between students than with anything Lucasfilm-ish [...]

Video: Even The Fine Civilians Of ‘Skyrim’ Can’t Resist A Party Rock Anthem

Ohhh, you rascally modders and your sorcery. I shall never understand how you do it.
Someone decided to take the simple people of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and turn them all into the next contestants of So You Think You Can Dance while LMFAO‘s “Party Rock Anthem” blares out in the background. The results, suffice it to say, are rather hilarious. [...]

Must Watch: Darth Vader Uses Force To Conduct Christmas Flash Mob

As far as flash mobs go, you won’t find me personally crossing my fingers to see one break out…except of course if Star Wars baddie Darth Vader is leading the charge.
Students at Algonquin College recently, while stressing out about exams week, were surprised by the appearance of none other than the Sithian Dark Lord Vader himself, who used his Force Maestro skills to conduct the singing of “Carol of the Bells” by the Ottawa Regional Youth Choir. [...]
