‘Stretch Armstrong’ Gets New Release Date, Loses Taylor Lautner

Cinemumra   |

SDCC 2011: Twilight Breaking Dawn, part 1 panel: Taylor Lautner

You win some, and you lose some.

According to Deadline, following the failure that was Abduction, not only has star Taylor Lautner been jettisoned from the long-talked-about Stretch Armstrong film, but Universal as a studio has left as well. However, they haven’t lost everything yet. Relativity has come in to sweep up the pieces, and will be releasing the film on April 11, 2014 [...]

Is ‘Chronicle’ Helmer Josh Trank Really Up For ‘Fantastic Four’ Reboot?

Cinemumra   |

Fantastic Four

If so, that apparently would be news to him.

A while back, rumor had it that following screenings of his new film, the found footage-ish superhero film, Chronicle, Fox tapped director Josh Trank to be the number one contender for the directorial gig currently up for grabs behind the long talked about Fantastic Four reboot. [...]

Captain Marvel Officially Becomes ‘Shazam’ In DC Comics

MK2Fac3   |

Captain Marvel by Alex Ross

Geoff Johns and DC Comics have announced that the legendary boy turned hero Captain Marvel will officially have his name changed to Shazam.

Captain Marvel has been a staple in the history and continuity of DC Comics for decades, but has also been a hot topic of debate both inside and outside the comics fandom. There’s been massive amounts of legal issues with Marvel Comics over the name as well, due to Marvel holding intellectual property over the name as a title for a comic book. So, the comics in which he appears have traditionally been under some sort of variation of Shazam, and the phrase was used for young Billy Batson to turn into the all powerful magic hero. But legal problems aren’t also the only problem with Captain Marvel as the non-comics reading public misunderstands the character’s actual name, as the majority are convinced that the character has always been known as Shazam, partially as a result of the 1974 television series [...]

Watch The First Teaser Trailer For ‘True Blood’ Season 5

Empress Eve   |

True Blood - Season 4

While we have to wait until the Summer to get more True Blood, HBO has released the first teaser trailer for the upcoming fifth season of the series.

Watch the teaser trailer, titled “Buried,” here below.

“Buried” is just over 30 seconds, and while the teaser doesn’t show any scenes or characters, it does hint at someone returning from underground. You guys all know who that is, right? [...]

Matthew Vaughn Returning For ‘X-Men: First Class’ Sequel

Cinemumra   |

Talk about a way to start a week.

Deadline is reporting that Matthew Vaughn will indeed be back to helm the upcoming sequel to his fantastic film, X-Men: First Class.

The sequel doesn’t have a start date as of the writing of this post, but frankly, the anticipation couldn’t get much higher. The cast and crew seem to be stuck within their rightly busy schedules (names like Michael Fassbender and Jennifer Lawrence don’t have much free time after all), so a 2013 start seems likely, but at this point, nothing is certain [...]

Get An Early Look At ‘Avengers Vs X-Men #0′

Culturesmash   |

Avengers vs X-Men #0 Cover Banner

Avengers Vs X-Men is Marvel’s big event for the summer and it all starts in March with issue #0. This issue apparently moves all of the pieces into place for the epic showdown that is to come. More specifically this issue establishes the importance of the Scarlet Witch and Hope Summers to the greater story. Brian Michael Bendis, Jason Aaron, and Frank Cho team up to bring this issue to life.

Marvel is still being pretty cagey about more story details, but we do have a couple of images from the comic here below. Avengers Vs X-Men #0 hits store shelves and the Marvel Comics App in March [...]

Oni Press Unveils New Logo

MK2Fac3   |

New Oni Press Logo

Independent comic book publishing company Oni Press is following suit in this season’s redesigns when they unveiled a brand new logo on Thursday that will soon be on all upcoming releases.

For the first time since the company’s first appearance on the comic book scene in 1997, Oni Press has announced that it’s time for a change. The company has evolved, and they’re simply not the same company that they were when they debuted. And I have to agree [...]

John Lee Hancock

Deadline is reporting that Hancock will write and direct an upcoming adaptation of the John Grisham novel, The Partner [...]

Joe Carnahan

Talk about having a great week.

With a box office-topping film under his belt in The Grey director Joe Carnahan has nabbed himself not only a new gig, but one that should leave film geeks waiting rather anxiously.

24 Frames is reporting that Carnahan has been tapped by MGM and Paramount to write and direct the upcoming Death Wish remake. The Charles Bronson classic followed the story of an architect who “morphs into an assassin after his wife and daughter are brutally attacked. Bronson’s character then undertakes a one-man mission to hurt and kill a host of criminals on the streets of New York.” [...]

Game of Thrones Season 2

Despite the debut of what, for all intents and purposes, is the television event of the winter, during their Michael Mann/David Milch-backed drama Luck, the world appears transfixed on a new full-length trailer for HBO’s big franchise, Game Of Thrones, and its impending second season.

The minute-long spot comes in preparation of the show’s April 1 return, and I must say, it looks rather good. Watch the full trailer here below [...]
