Actor Will Ferrell was this year’s King of Bacchus at Sunday’s Mardi Gras parade in New Orleans, LA, and as usual, he was awesome.
The Anchorman actor donned the King of Bacchus attire, complete with crown, to ride aboard a float during Sunday afternoon’s parade, where he threw out traditional Mardi Gras items to the crowds, like beads, doubloons, and trinkets such as – get this – mini cowbells!
Check out the video here below of Ferrell at the parade.
Here’s some information regarding how Kings are chosen and how Ferrell got involved, according to z6mag:
King’s are selected by a huge network of people. It was mentioned that Will Ferrell was filming a movie about Louisiana politics and that he had been walking around town like a local. The people that choose King Bacchus ran into a group affiliated with Will Ferrell and they proposed the offer and he accepted.
