Green Arrow

On Monday, Warner Bros. released the first image of Stephen Amell as Green Arrow from The CW’s Arrow pilot.

With each bit of news, I get even more excited about this show. In the first photo released from CW’s Arrow, we see our hero Green Arrow posed with hood up, head down, and bow locked by his side. While we can’t really get too many details from this image, we can speculate as much as we want to as to what this means for the show and how it will portray the main character. Now, you may not want to do that, but these kind of things make me the big bucks, so here we go!

You can see the first image from Arrow below.

Okay, so we can tell by all the Photoshop effects and filters that The CW is clearly going with a much grittier take on the character than what we saw from Justin Hartley’s Green Arrow within the Smallville universe, and while I appreciated that take on the character, I’m ecstatic to see a dark take on the hero. I mean, that’s clear as day to you guys right? Black border, scratchy effects — makes sense, no? Of course it does! I think it will benefit the character, and it will be awesome to see a comic book character taken seriously on television because I don’t really remember the last time that was done. You may argue that Smallville was serious, but then I’d ask you to look closely at those episodes. It was a goofy show. A fun and great show to watch, but goofy indeed. Arrow does not look goofy so far.

Next, let’s take a look at his costume. It’s a green, leather-like material. Now, I’ve never seen any green, leather-like materials in person, but I would have assumed that someone wearing it wouldn’t be a serious, brooding guy. But the color palette is darker for this Robin Hood inspired hero, so there’s that I suppose. Anyway, let’s not get distracted by the fashion right now. The point is, when this show was announced, I wanted it to be a darker take on the character, and this image proves that. The other thing that this image proves is that The CW really is fast tracking this show because it’s really falling into place while shows like Deadman and Booster Gold are somewhere in the ether of television development. I really want this show to be a good one, and so far, I haven’t been disappointed. At the very least, Amell’s got the look down.

For a larger look at the image, feel free to look below and make it your desktop wallpaper or something!
