‘Beauty and the Beast’ & ‘Bambi’ Diamond Editions Heading Back Into Disney Vault

Disney has been known to restore and re-release critically acclaimed works to the public for a very limited amount of time. And if you haven’t reserved the time to purchase the Beauty and the Beast Diamond Edition and Bambi: Diamond Edition at your local video store or favorite website, then you have to hurry, because are heading back to the vault on April 30th, 2012. That’s less than two days away, so if you have been meaning to add these two titles to your library, then you better stop reading this post and buy it now before time runs out.
For those who are not familiar with Beauty and the Beast, the film was the first animated title to near an Academy Award for Best Picture. Based on the fairy tale of the same name, Beauty and the Beast tells the story of a beautiful small town bookworm who is the only one who can break the curse of the beast. The film was recently re-released in 3D, which brought the characters, sound, and storyline to a whole new immersive dimension.
Bambi is one of my personal favorites. The film was an “endearing tale of a young fawn that learns valuable life lessons about friendship, love and the miracle of life.” Bambi was also one of the top animated films of all time by the American Film Institute (AFI’s “10 Top 10,” 2008).
So if you have been meaning to add these titles to your collection, but haven’t already, then I suggest you get off your chair and get moving now. Once they go back into the vault, the price on existing stock can shoot up to $80 each.
Disney needs to stop this. It’s really pointless w/ online stores still selling the dvds after they’ve supposedly ‘been returned to the vault’. It just makes Disney come off like greedy douche bags who are trying to force their prices up.
