Ads and banners tend to fly and flap in the winds or cover various walls during all kinds of film festivals. Some confirm that a movie is inevitably coming and others confirm that a title has change. This recently happened with director Christopher McQuarrie‘s new Tom Cruise action/thriller from One Shot, which will now be known as Jack Reacher.
McQuarrie’s adaptation is an adaptation of Lee Child‘s novel One Shot, and is actually the ninth book in a series of novels that involve the Reacher character. The series follows Reacher, a former Army MP, who gets caught up in one dangerous situation after the next.
Not sure how I feel about the title change to be honest. You don’t see the Mission: Impossible films being called Ethan Hunt. But then again, Mission: Impossible was a pretty established television series back then, and even if you were familiar with the franchise when it started, you no doubt came across the infamous opening track it’s associated with.
With One Shot it’s a bit more difficult. The move may try to bring in more audiences, especially those who read the book.
In addition to Cruise, Jack Reacher stars Werner Herzog as the film’s antagonist, as well as Rosamund Pike, Robert Duvall, Richard Jenkins and Michael Raymond-James. It is scheduled to open in theaters on December 21.

Who in the world cast Tom Cruise as Jack Reacher?

Tom Cruise can mug for the camera. He can whine about how hard it was for HIM to create the stunts in MI4. But act, no, he can’t do that. He also can’t pull off playing Jack Reacher. And not only because he is too short. He has no presence. Nope, not even in A Few Good Men (and one bad performance). Who brown lights Tom Cruise as a lead actor anyway?

I know – One thing the books always emphasize is how Reacher is a giant 6’6” bruiser. Â Isn’t Tom Cruise barely a step above being a midget?
