Production for the long gestating Maleficent started less than a week ago, and now we are getting a first look at Angelina Jolie as the titular character. Click on the image below for a large view.
Jolie was the perfect fit to play the villainess; her long, slender, and sexy look would provide a fresh take on the classic character. According to Disney, “This is the untold story of Disney’s most beloved villain, Maleficent, from the 1959 classic Sleeping Beauty. The film reveals the events that hardened her heart and drove her to curse the baby, Aurora.”
As you can see, Jolie is sporting very familiar black horns on her head. Seeing as this is only a teaser image, this is as good as it is going to get right now. But production has just started, and I am certain we are going to get more photos as production for the film progresses.
Marking his directorial debut, two-time Oscar-winning production designer Robert Stromberg (Avatar, Alice in Wonderland) directs Maleficent, which stars Sharlto Copley, Elle Fanning, Sam Riley, Imelda Staunton, Miranda Richardson, Juno Temple, and Lesley Manville. Maleficent is due out in 3D on March 14, 2014.
