In Ghostbusters #10, the boys go visit the Big Easy!!! No, they don’t go to Snooki’s house. I’m talking about New Orleans, Louisiana. Can they catch the spirit about to plague the city? And more importantly, can they get out before doing more damage to the city than the ghost will do?

This issue’s writer, Erik Burnham, drags the boys in gray down to Louisiana to help a town that… really DOES NOT want them there. It’s nice to see a change of pace in this series, since in previous issues the Ghostbusters have been adored by the people of New York City and rightfully so, they’ve saved their bacon more times that anyone can count. But, here in New Orleans, spirituality is a BIG part of the local flavor and the home town crowd does NOT want that changing.

There’s a number of firsts this issue: first time we see people hostile towards the boys (and how they get out of that is a REAL nice touch for hardcore Ghostbusters fans), a first time we see them NOT get the ghost (don’t worry, I’m not spoiling anything), and the first time we see… well, I’m not telling that one. There’s some nice set up for future storylines in the book and writing in this issue is the gold standard that we’ve become used to. Another town, another great issue!

Speaking of great, Dan Schoening, everybody (whose name I can now spell by heart!)!!! It never ceases to impress and amaze me how Schoening can create individual looks for each of the ghosts, yet make them all fit into the Ghostbusters world seamlessly. And I know, I’ve told you endlessly to PAY ATTENTION to the people in the background crowds, but I’m telling you again – you never know WHO you’re going to see. This issue especially, he really brings the spirit and architecture of New Orleans to life. If he hasn’t been there before himself, he’s sure has got some GREAT photo references. In short, the book is gorgeous as always.

Tristan Jones gives real meat to the back up story that he started last issue. It’s a very nice complement to the story in the main book. Different in tone, art style, and just about every other way that one story can be different than the other, but it still has that Ghostbusters FEEL to it. It’s a very interesting story that I’m super anxious to follow. And, it’s awesome that Peter Venkman and I have the same keychain.

Another great chapter in the Ghostbusters road trip across the country. I really hope you’re picking this book up, it’s got everything. Great art, story, laughs, but most of all heart. You can feel the love that the creators have here for this comic, and it shows. BIG TIME.
