SDCC 2012: Twilight: Breaking Dawn, Part 2 banner

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 will bring The Twilight Saga film franchise to a close and its cast and crew were on hand today in Hall H at the San Diego Comic-Con to present the first seven minutes from this highly anticipated final installment.

Director Bill Condon couldn’t be on the panel because he’s currently scoring the film in London, but to treat the fans for what will be the film franchise’s final appearance at Comic-Con, he introduced the first 7 minutes of the film, beginning right where Breaking Dawn: Part 1 left off with Bella (Kristen Stewart) opening her eyes. Also, a short clip from the film was shown. You can read all of footage description here below.

The highlight of the panel was obviously all the new footage shown, but there was also a Q&A session, where fans got to ask questions to the members of the panel, which included Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and Taylor Lautner, along with several other members of the cast as well as Twilight author Stephenie Meyer. Most of the questions were about their experiences filming the saga, favorite moments filming and favorite scenes, and more. Most of the answers was the same as we’re used to – their sad to see it end, but are glad they got to complete the franchise; they loved their experiences, they’ll miss everyone, they are like family now, etc. But here’s a few standouts from the Q&A session:

- Pattison was asked what piece of advice would his Breaking Dawn Edward gives to the Edward of the first Twilight film, the actor responded, “Keep it in your pants,” which drove the audience wild.

- When asked about favorite scenes, the child actress who plays Bella and Edward’s daughter, Renesmee replied: “Riding Jacob wolf.” After that she revealed that she lost a tooth during that time. “I got big girl teeth,” say said, prompting tons of “awwwwwws” all around.

- While most of the people on the Q&A line were female, one male actually got up to the mike. He addressed his question to Taylor Lautner, saying “I’m about to have a girl moment here” leading everyone to believe he was about to pour his heart out. The affable Lautner gave him a salute, signalling for the fan to let loose. But, it turns out the male fan, who appeared to be a young teen, said that Lautner inspired him to lose weight, as he had been over 300 lbs and had already gotten down to 250 lbs. He wanted to know some weight loss and weight training tips. Lautner, who got into tip-top shape for his role as Jacob in the later Twilight films, gave the fan props for his achievement, then gave a few tips as requested.

Footage Description

First 7 minutes of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2

Bella opens her eyes for the first time as a vampire and her eyes are red. Her senses are now enhanced, everything she sees is now heightened. She sees Edward, who’s holding his hand out to her. She places her hand, with her large engagement ring on it, into Edwards hands. He looks at Bella, who’s wearing a royal blue mini-dress. “You’re so beautiful,” Edward he says to her and we see her red eyes in contrast to Edward’s golden eyes. “We’re the same temperature now,” he says, as he touches her arm. Her turns her around and she sees herself in the mirror and she smiles at her new look. She turns back to him and hugs him very tightly using her newly acquired super strength , but it’s a bit too tight though. “It’s your turn not to break me,” he says tells her. They tell each other “I love you” and then kiss passionately – their first kiss as a vampire couple. “Renesmee?” Bella enquires after their daughter, who was born at the end of Breaking Dawn: Part 1. “She’s incredible,” Edward responds. Bella wants to see her daughter, but he Edward explains that they need to get Bella’s thirst for blood under control first. So, they go off to hunt. We see Bella running super-fast through the woods and noticing every tiny detail as she goes. Edward and Bella fun fast together, enjoying the time together. When they stop, he tells her to close her eyes. “What do you hear?” he asks. She hears sounds of the forest, then a deer; she goes to leap on it, but doesn’t because she senses something else – human blood. In the distance, we see a man scaling a cliff and then cut his arm. This is what Bella senses so far in the distance. “Bella don’t!” Edward shouts, but Bella takes off anyhow after a climber. When she gets near him, she stops herself. Edward catches up and says he didn’t think there’s be any people there that far off. He says he can help her with the temptation of human blood, but she jumps off the cliff and he realizes maybe she doesn’t need his help and he smirks. We see Bella go back to the deer she was originally hunter, but as she’s about to pounce, a mountain lion approaches the deer. Bella then attacks the lion and gets her blood that way. Edward and Bella are together again, going up to the Cullen house, and he tells her that she did well. Jacob comes out of the house, and Bella is surprised to see that he’s still there. “I didn’t expect you to seem so…you… except for the creepy eyes,” Jacob says to Bella, jokingly. Bella wants to go see Renesmee, but Jacob says she would sniff him first to see if she can handle her thirst. “Since when you care about Reneseme?,” she asks him., confused at his newfound concern. Edward and Jacob shoot each other a knowing look regarding Jacob’s imprinting on Renesmee and Edward gives him a look not to say anything yet. “Take a whiff,” Jacob says to Bella. She does and jokes, “I see what everyone’s been talking about… you really do stink.” Bella and Edward hug and Jacob says they are great together and Bella is happy to hear that, but seems surprised that Jacob would admit it.

New footage

This scene takes place right before Charlie is about to come over and see Bella for the first time since she became a vampire. Because Charlie doesn’t know about the vampires, Bella has to figure out how to act human in front of her father, but her new strength and speed are obvious. The Cullens give Bella contacts to put in to hide her now-red eye color. The entire clan try to instruct her on what to do – move your shoulders so it seems like you’re breathing; trying sitting down slowly; blink at least three times per minute; sit naturally not perfectly straight, and so on. Though, everything she does is too fast, too strong, and too obvious that something is unnatural.
