Joseph Gordon-Levitt Slightly Cagey About Being In Another Batman Movie

Joseph Gordon-Levitt in The Dark Knight Rises

There are a lot of surprises in store for those who haven’t watched Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises. Looking back at it all, Nolan has created a trilogy rich with mythology and wonder, and to finally see it come to an end is a bit sad. Now with the film completed and released, the cast are finally weighing in on what The Dark Knight Rises meant to them.

In an interview with Jimmy Kimmel, Rises star Joseph Gordon-Levitt talked about what it was like to work with Nolan for a second time and to be a part of the final chapter of The Dark Knight Trilogy. Beware there will be spoilers below, so if you haven’t seen The Dark Knight Rises yet, turn back.

In the video, Gordon-Levitt talks about John Blake and the film’s ending. He says all of that is not up to him and the decision of whether or not to continue the film series with him as the lead is the studio’s decision. The actor acknowledges that with the way the film ended, it was unlikely that we would see John Blake, or should I say Robin John Blake, take up the cape and cowl.

His answer that Batman represents that there is a hero inside of us all pretty much confirms that we won’t be seeing a Batman sequel that relates to Nolan’s arc. But I love that Kimmel just reveals the character’s first name right there without saying “spoiler alert.”

So do you think Warner Bros. should move on and reboot Batman again or should they continue with the adventures of “Robin” John Blake as Batman/Robin/Nightwing?

I wouldn’t be against a Nightwing movie starring Levitt.

have seen the whole series & the dark night riseaThe movies isnt terrible but batma can just stop being batman so for any “robin” mivies you will always need batman & will have to try to fit in his new life style without alferd and with “cat women”

I think the Arkham video games handle him better than anywhere else, except *maybe* in his animated series from the 90′s. I’d love for a more Dini-style reboot, as long as his awful Catwoman isn’t in it. Apparently the next Rocksteady “Arkham” game is set in the Silver Age of comics, that’s too exciting for a gamer like me.

i am kin of on the fence about it i would like to see where the next nolan movie would go. i was quite disapointed in the way it ended and that we never got to see robin realy fight at batmans side nore did we see a costume. ut a reboot would also be nice but i really like joseph gorden levitt as robin again i thought this was a good idea since the 3rd rock from the sun days. either way i would like to see him again he did an excelent job despite the fact that alot of things didnt make sense even if he played batman (as jason tod when he took over as batman), robin or nightwing i would be very happy.

i think the triology was great was better then most of the batman movies before the characters were way more realistic and not so cartoony, nolan and dc comics did a great job with these movies i mean come on look at the rest of these super hero movies now a days most of them really suck, i would love to see a night wing movie in the making but u cant hve nightwing/robin with out a batman it just wouldnt make sense they should stick with some of the earlier comics and i think they could have a couple more hits if they can find someone worthy enough to direct them and worthy enough to play the bat, lets all just hope if they do that they dont go back to the cartoony bullshit like from batman and robin or batman forever i thnk they were the worse ever made
