Release Date Set For Marvel Studios’ ‘The Avengers 2′

Back in May, Disney confirmed that Marvel Studios already had a sequel to The Avengers in development. Earlier this month, it was announced that Joss Whedon would return to write and direct The Avengers 2.
Now, Walt Disney Studios has officially announced the release date for The Avengers 2, and while it’s a ways off, it’s no surprise that it’ll be another summer blockbuster for Marvel Studios.
Get ready for The Avengers 2 – still waiting on an official title/subtitle – on May 1, 2015.
Here’s the official announcement that went out from Disney today:
The Walt Disney Studios has announced a release date for Marvel Studios’ sequel to the biggest Super Hero blockbuster and third highest grossing film of all time, Marvel’s The Avengers. Joss Whedon returns to write and direct the UNTITLED MARVEL’S AVENGERS SEQUEL set for release May 1, 2015.
I’d ask who’s excited for an Avengers sequel, but I think we all know the answer.
