Lynne Ramsay may not be a household name, but you may have heard of the very dark film called We Need To Talk About Kevin. Now Ramsay is ready to follow that up with a new western titled Jane’s Got A Gun, and she already has Natalie Portman signed on to play the lead. The film centers on a wife who must protect her farm from a gang after her husband stumbles into her home injured with multiple gunshot wounds. She hopes to get some help by recruiting her former lover.
Now it’s being reported that Michael Fassbender is in talks to play that former lover. This sounds like it has the potential to be a very good western flick. The script originated from the 2011 Black List and was written by Brian Duffields.
This would be Fassbender’s second stint at a western since Jonah Hex. Portman herself has not been in a western, so it should be interesting to see what she can do in a new genre. But if anything, it shows how versatile the two actors are and how adaptable they can be taking on a variety of roles.
No word yet on who will lead the gang that fights against Portman and Fassbender, but based on the cast they have so far, I bet its going to be a pretty great name.
Filming is expected to begin in early 2013, so its possible that we could see Jane’s Got A Gun later that same year. So are you excited to see a western starring Michael Fassbender and Natalie Portman?
