Christian Bale and Jayden Barber Image

After the tragic shooting in Colorado during a midnight screening of The Dark Knight Rises, star Christian Bale did a truly superhero-worthy thing by heading to the hospital and visiting with the victims there.

Bale now continues this heroic lifestyle, after flying four-year-old Jayden Barber and his family to Disneyland for a lunch at Club 33 with Christian, his wife, and his daughter.

Jayden has been battling cancer for over two years now, starting with bone cancer. The chemotherapy for that cancer turned into MDS leukemia last year, which was originally thought to be terminal after a bone marrow transplant did not work. He is currently in remission.

Jayden’s mother, Charlene, posted images of their meeting in the Facebook group Lighting the Batsignal for Jayden, along with these words:

“The entire interaction was like old friends having lunch. Jayden did not get star struck but was well aware of who we were with!” she gushed. “They talked movies and super Heros an he was genuinely happy to hear about everything Jayden wanted to tell him. Christian, his wife and daughter are three of the most beautiful people we have ever met! Christian made these arrangements for us personally and ensured we were treated like royalty. I don’t have even one negative thing to say about them. I can tell you that they were just as impressed w Jayden as Jayden was w them :)”

More images of the meeting can be seen at the Facebook page above, as well as images of other events held for Jayden, including some from a celebration at a football stadium held for him with a bunch of his favorite superheroes.

  1. What a really cool thing to do! That not only meant something to the kid, but that family too. Right on Gale!
