‘Star Wars: Episode 7’ Will Most Likely Be An Original Story

After Disney made the massive purchase of Lucasfilm yesterday, Star Wars fans wondered where it all goes from here. Word that an Episode VII was hitting theaters in 2015 had fans wondering if they would see the continuation of the story of Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, and Han Solo. Much of their story has already been put into numerous books, graphic novels, and video games. In fact Timothy Zahn‘s Dark Empire Trilogy – which take place six years after the events of the Empire falling and Luke being drawn into the dark side – could have been one of graphic novels adapted for the next Star Wars trilogy.
However it’s been uncovered that Episode VII will in all likelihood be an original story, and not only will they not use any previously created works, but they won’t use any of George Lucas‘ old storylines that were suppose to take place after Return of the Jedi.
According to E! Online, a source over at Lucasfilm has stated that this new trilogy will be an original story. This could mean that Episode VII will not have any of the original characters seen in the first six Star Wars films. But that remains unconfirmed. Even if they are original stories it shouldn’t eliminate the possibility that we could still see Luke, Leia, Han, Chewbacca, and everyone’s favorite two droids in future films.
But what did Lucas have in store for his fans? Well in an interview with The Wrap, Dale Pollock, author of the Lucas biography, Skywalking: The Life And Films Of George Lucas, has stated he has seen these highly classified future Star Wars film notes, and had this to say:
It was originally a 12-part saga. The three most exciting stories were 7, 8 and 9. They had propulsive action, really interesting new worlds, new characters. I remember thinking, “˜I want to see these 3 movies.’
Seeing new settings and new characters in the next chapters of the Star Wars saga wouldn’t be that much of a surprise. Pollock has stated that the next trilogy would have focused on Luke Skywalker in his 30s and 40s. However, Mark Hamill is clearly older than 40, I don’t see how casting him as Luke in Episode VII is even remotely possible. They could use the same technology to make him younger the same way they made Jeff Bridges younger in Tron: Legacy, but let’s just consider that an unconfirmed option for now.
But tell us your thoughts on these supposed exciting stories for episodes 7,8, and 9. How does it make you feel that they won’t be used? How does it make you feel that we might not even see Luke Skywalker and co. in future films? Is this really the end of the Sith? And if it is, what new threat faces the newly restored peace?
There may be a lot of unanswered questions, but as soon as more details about Episode VII come out, you can be sure we will be all over it.
If this is true I will murder people and then kill myself. The only acceptable path is to adapt EU novels by Zahn, Stackpole, etc. Lucas’ outdated vision is garbage and the EU novels are canon.
I think it is a mistake to call it Episode 7 if you aren’t going to include the original cast/story.

Episode VII should have Mark Hamill as The New Vader, and he tries to go after the child that Leia and Han have, and in the process Han gets Killed by Luke and Leia becomes a Jedi and has to take on her Brother to protect her child from Luke.

This news is the death of Star Wars, the story has been told so I can’t see future star wars movies being any good. I love star wars and I hope I’m wrong but I’m not even excited about the new movies but will see what happens.
It would be cool if the opening scene of episode VII would be R2 D2 and C-3PO walking together on some exotic planet…

I think the story should continue with Leia and Han’s children, there is a canon of Han’s child fighting Luke as he was convinced to be part of the dark side, due to the fact that Palpatine had cloned himself before he had died. At this point they can create a horrifying potrayal of Luke, so he needn’t have to look like he was 40.
I personally would love to see a pre-Clone War trilogy. You know, something like the founding of the Jedi Order and how there was a split between the Jedi and the Sith.
One of the screen writers who saw some of Lucas’s original notes said that Disney was going to use those as a basis for the next three-which in fact takes place 20-30 yrs later and does focus on Han & Leia’s children as well as Luke’s-very similar to the books-and yes the sith are still around and it’s not Luke but one of Han & Leia’s children who is tempted by the dark side before becoming the “one” who makes it whole again.

The New Jedi Order saga would be great it a good time line 25 years after epi 6 and The Yuuzhann Vong war would be pretty cool on the big screen
