Quentin Tarantino Image

If you’re a big fan of director Quentin Tarantino‘s last two films, Inglourious Basterds and the recently released Django Unchained, you may be in luck.

As it turns out, Tarantino had much bigger plans for Basterds, much of which he had to trim away to get to the final film we saw. Because of this, we might just end up getting another movie from the director titled Killer Crow, which would create a loose alternate history trilogy along with Basterds and Django.

Happy 90th Birthday To The Unstoppable Stan Lee!

Stan Lee

Stan Lee, who almost singlehandedly (along with illustrators Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko) turned the fortunes of Marvel Comics around with his colorful and lucrative comic character creations, such as Spider-Man, The Hulk, The Fantastic Four, The X-Men, Iron Man, and Thor, and started a revolution in print and eventually television and film media which helped make him and the comic book industry a somewhat credible, facile establishment, with annual earnings reaching untold BILLIONS, turns 90 years old today!

Born in the Upper West Side of Manhattan in 1922 as Stanley Lieber, and growing up in poor squalor type surroundings during The Great Depression of the 1930s, Lee found his solace in plenty of books and cinema of that period, in particular the exploits of the characters made famous by old school actor Errol Flynn, best remembered for his portrayal of swashbucklers and Robin Hood. It led to Lee’s writing pastime, which then led to small time gigs where he wrote obits and press releases.

Dynamite Entertainment
Release Date: December 19, 2012

Masks #2 is pulp heroes at its best. I only wish DC Comic would’ve handled their pulp line as well as Dynamite does here. They’ve created a shared universe for all their characters that makes sense, is fun, and turns out to be one heck of a good time.

Writer Chris Roberson really goes a fantastic job in this issue. The previous issue introduced the villains and heroes, this is issue is where the team starts to take shape and head into action. A lot of company crossovers seem forced, going to great lengths to bring the heroes together, but here, it’s done in such a natural way, you never even think twice about the believability of the story. Roberson also introduces new characters in this issue and furthers the actions of the villains, forcing the team to get organized and ready to go. This is a REALLY well-written issue, and, so far, the comic reads a lot better in monthlies than it will in trade. Every issue so far has ended on a cliffhanger and when you’re reading a trade, all you do is turn the page, but it really helps that you get a month break to absorb the story and speculate at what might be coming next month.

Kevin Smith Image

As most of you may have heard by now, Kevin Smith had planned to end his directing career with the hockey movie Hit Somebody. Then we found out that Hit Somebody would now become a miniseries, and that Clerks III would fittingly become his final directorial effort.

Now Smith has added to that news, sharing that he hopes to have the trilogy-maker ready for a 2014 release—for the 20th anniversary of the release of his first directorial effort, Clerks, back in 1994—and that he may even be willing to make the third film for around the same price as the original…a whopping $27,000.
