As this book is aimed at a younger reader, I called upon the help of someone in the perfect target audience, my 7-year-old daughter, Sofia. After going through the book, I asked her a few questions about it:

What’s the name of this book?
Wonder Woman: Power Outage

Have you read other Wonder Woman stories before?

Yes.

What makes this one different?

It’s a choose-your-own-adventure book.

How does that work?

It says to flip to a chapter if you want to do one thing, and if you want to do another thing, it says to flip to a different chapter.

Was it easy for you to do, or was it confusing?

It was easy.

What was this story about?

Wonder Woman loses her powers, so basically she’s…[whispers]…about to diiiiieeee!

Who does Wonder Woman fight in this book?
She fights Cheetah, Ares the god of war, and Circe, who is a sorceress.

How did they attack Wonder Woman?
They send her back to her past and make her think she could change it. Everybody except Zeus, Circe, and Wonder Woman don’t know that time keeps repeating itself.

When you came to a choice in the book, did it just ask you to turn to a new chapter?
Sometimes there were other things. Sometimes it asked you to finish mazes and word puzzles.

Was that fun? Was it easy or hard?
It was fun. It was both easy and hard, but everybody likes easy/hard puzzles.

How long did the book take you to finish?
About an hour. I only went down two paths that led to me dying.

Did you make it all the way to the happy end of the book?
Yes.

Would you say that this book is good for other kids your age to read?
Definitely!

If you had to tell someone your age about this book, what would you tell them?
I would describe it as wonderously amazing, and tell them that Wonder Woman has a great adventure in it.

Were there many pictures in this book?
There weren’t many pictures, but I liked the way she was drawn.

After reading this book, would you read other choose-your-own-adventure books?

Definitely.

What did you like about choose-your-own-adventure books?
These kind of books, you get to pick what kind of book you want it to be.

What did you NOT like about this book?
Only one thing. It told you to go to chapter 10, and that chapter did not make any sense at all.

Was that the only chapter that didn’t make sense?
Yes!
