Marvel Knights Inhumans movie

Emerging from the Terrigen Mist of the Himalayas. Beamed down from the recently uncovered Blue Area of the Moon. Shout! Factory releases the Marvel Knights Animation presentation of The Inhumans on DVD on April 23, 2013.

The Inhumans were created by comics legends Stan Lee and Jack Kirby and debuted in Fantastic Four issue #45. They are not well-known outside of well-traveled comics circles. Inside the Marvel comics universe, however, knowledge of their existence ranges far and wide amongst the superhero/supervillain communities. This is funny since The Inhumans are an ancient superhuman society that goes through great pains to remain hidden from the world at large. And by “great pains” I mean they once moved their entire civilization and city to the far side of the moon!

Be sure to check out the DVD cover and official synopsis below the jump.

Seriously this is kind of a big deal for hard core comics geeks like myself. Since Marvel’s Avengers has proven itself to be a sellable franchise to the world at large, Marvel’s next task is introducing its cosmic and, depending on who you ask, B-level superheroes unto the unsuspecting world. IMNSHO this Inhumans animated feature is fine middle ground between 2012’s Avengers blockbuster event and the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy live-action film.

At the price of $14.97 you can easily prepare a place on your shelf for this DVD come April 23, 2013. Marvel Knight’s Animations The Inhumans would look right nice on it. This is, of course, after you’ve watched it a time or two.

Avoid the wait. Pre-order the Inhumans from Amazon.com now!

Official Synopsis

The Inhumans have always been one of Marvel’s most enduring oddities. A race of genetic outsiders, they live secluded in their island kingdom of Attilan, preferring not to mix with the outside world. Even stranger, their genetic mutations are self-endowed; each Inhuman, as a coming-of-age ritual, endures exposure to the Terrigen Mists, a strange substance that imparts unearthly powers — some extraordinary, some monstrous.

But now the kingdom of Attilan is under attack from without and within. Can the Royal Family, led by Black Bolt, repel the foreign invaders who blast at their outer defense, as well as the internal threat of Black Bolt’s insane brother, Maximus the Mad?

This popular series takes a classic Marvel cast of characters, and infuses it with a modern sensibility that includes international politics and an awareness of class systems. Dark and grimly compelling, The Inhumans is one story that won’t be forgotten any time soon.

Bonus Features Include:

A Look Back At The Inhumans with Eisner Award-winning writer Paul Jenkins, Marvel Chief Creative Officer Joe Quesada and Supervising Producer Kalia Cheng.

Total Feature Running Time: +/ – 132 minutes
