Due to the sheer number of characters and plots that Game of Thrones juggles at one time, it’s not entirely surprising that we didn’t check in with everyone in this premiere episode. And that’s fine, considering how strong the material was that we were shown tonight, I’m perfectly all right with the fact that next week’s episode will probably highlight some of my favorite plots and characters (Arya and Jamie storylines come specifically to mind).
That aside, tonight’s quieter season premiere was very, very strong.

WonderCon 2013: ‘Revolution’ Panel
|
Natalie Abrams from TV Guide.com moderated the Revolution panel on Saturday at WonderCon 2013 in Anaheim, CA. She introduced panelists co-executive producer David Rambo, and actors Zack Orth, Elizabeth Mitchell, Billy Burke, Tracy Spiridakos, David Lyons, Daniella Alonzo, and Tim Guinee.
The cast was asked, when you first found out you would be back on the air, how did you feel? Burke said that taking a break during the hiatus was a relief, but he loves being back.
The moderator asked, how Danny’s death was going to affect the characters moving forward from that point. Rambo said it was emotional behind-the-scenes to say goodbye to a fellow cast member, particularly since finding him was the motivating force of the first half of the season. In his absence, it really ups the stakes, and the emotions are hotter. The cast were all surprised when they found out he’d be killed off, and they’re all waiting for the axe to drop on their own characters. Mitchell was asked what that capsule was that she removed from Danny’s body. She said we’ll find out in two episodes, and more about the capsule through the rest of the season.

WonderCon 2013: Seth Rogen Comedy ‘This Is The End’ Panel
|
Cabin fever meets the pending apocalypse as the upcoming comedy This Is The End rounded out the three films showcased by Sony Pictures on their mid-afternoon panel on Saturday at WonderCon 2013 in Anaheim, CA, held in the large and sprawling packed to the rafters Arena.
Starring the ever sloppily unkempt but hilariously endearing Seth Rogen, along with his writing partner Evan Goldberg (they both directed the film) and with Danny Mcbride and Craig Robinson, This Is The End shows six friends (who all play themselves and including James Franco and Jonah Hill) trapped in a large dwelling (Franco’s house at a party) after a series of cataclysmic events decimates much of Los Angeles. The fallout from the events sort of takes the narrative to akin to an urban, zany Lord of the Flies, as the relationships feel the strain from the dearth of supplies and being trapped with one another. Eventually the friends are forced to leave the house and have to deal with the new way of life, which is now manifested on purely survival, which eventually draws them every so closer, albeit kookily so.
