For those of you who wished that your favorite (or not so favorite) songs could have the beats of the late, great Led Zeppelin big-drummer-boy with the thundersticks John Bonham affixed to it, the wait is over. There is a website called The Bonhamizer that will allow a user to upload any song, and it will automatically sort of “cyberpaste” a John Bonham style beat over the existing one.
Created by drum programmer Paul Lamere, and employing four different varieties of the Bonham signature heavy foot drum styles he was known for on pretty much the entire Led Zeppelin catalog, like “Hammer of the Gods,” “Basic Bonham,” “Double Time Shuffle,” and “Bonham Shuffle,” this little internet site will have you blowing hours of your valuable time, having fun putting the signature Bonham beats on songs by artists as diverse as The Beatles, Abba, Diana Ross, Frank Sinatra, The Carpenters, Wham, A Flock of Seagulls, Shakira, Hall and Oates, Judy Collins, Gordon Lightfoot, Foghat, Justin friggin’ Bieber, and tons more.
The sky is the limit and it runs the musical gamut with absolute full aplomb, only limited by one’s imagination and knowledge of the library of millions upon millions of songs readily available. You can check out some preloaded songs from Adele, Radiohead, The White Stripes, and more here and you can upload your own tracks here.
Just when we thought we’ve seen everything the internet can possibly offer, comes a nifty little tool such as this one. It’s been a long time since we rock and rolled, but The Bonhamizer can make up for all that lost time indeed.
