The New Ghostbusters #2 continues the adventures of a VERY different team of Ghostbusters. Thankfully, there’s no giant monkeys.
Wow, Erik Burnham. Just wow. I can’t remember when a comic has been so consistently entertaining and not dropped in quality. And, I might add, keep its monthly schedule. This is FANTASTIC!!! I still can’t believe that month in and month out, I ACTUALLY laugh out loud at some of the gags and one-liners. Congratulations, Mr. Burnham. That never happens with any other book. This issue is no exception to that rule. Along with The New Ghostbusters, we also get a new supporting cast. Some of them are familiar, some not, but they’re all great. Just like last issue, we get the main adventure focusing on the new team, with a little bit of the classic Ghostbusters thrown in for good measure. Both stories are moved forward at a great pace, nothing rushed or forced, and everything comes to a great and suspenseful stopping point at the issues end.
Art wise, another “A” gets handed out for consistency. Plus, Dan Schoening’s are is just plain awesome. I recommend you read this book twice, the second time just for the cameos of other actors that Schoening puts into each issue. And hey, you get to read a great comic twice. In the first Ghostbusters series, he did a great job coming up with new Ghostbusting gadgets for the team, and I hope, as the series goes on, he gets to do the same with this book. I’m sure he’s got plenty of ideas in that Canadian head of his!
Give it a shot!!! You won’t be disappointed!! Of course, you smart people who are long time readers of this title know that all ready.
