Marvel Studios’ 2014 release Guardians of the Galaxy has amassed quite the geek-friendly talent pool behind the scenes and before the camera. In addition to Slither/Super director James Gunn sitting at the helm of the feature, we have Chris Pratt (Parks & Recreation), Zoe Saldana (Star Trek), and Michael Rooker (The Walking Dead) headlining the cast.
You know what this cast needs, and could even get if all goes according to plan? A Time Lord, naturally.
There is a rumor floating around the interwebs that former Doctor Who star David Tennant – my favorite Doctor to be honest – is currently in the running to provide the voice for the last crucial role yet to be cast: Rocket Raccoon, a character who would be brought to life through the mega-expensive magic of CGI. Earlier reports had Marvel pursuing either Jim Carrey or Adam Sandler for voicing duties, but if this latest news is true and Tennant has moved to the head of the pack, then the idea of casting one of those popular comic actors must have crumbled to proverbial dust.
If this turns out to be the undisputed truth, the movie would definitely have my full support. Tennant is a marvelous dramatic and comedic actor who we haven’t seen a great deal of since his stint on Doctor Who came to a close and he would make an invaluable addition to the Guardians ensemble….if this turns out to be the truth. For now, let’s treat it as a rumor and get to wishing on those stars.

I agree, but I also reallllly want Tennant to play Doctor Strange for Phase 3.
