MTV’s The Real World: Portland and the upcoming comedy This is the End both share the same premise: they both feature a group of people who are stuck together and forced to be real. Well at least the stuck together part is the one thing they have in common, the real part not so much.
With This Is The End opening in theaters today and the finale for The Real World: Portland airing tonight, MTV has released a clever new promo for the film featuring the cast and two members of the hit reality TV show, who are stuck together after an apocalyptic event and forced to stop being polite. And by stop being polite I mean things like peeing in a hot tub, leaving some nasty confessionals in front of the camera, leaving the toilet seat up, drug use, vulgar language, hostile living space, and sexually harassing the female roommates.

Both This Is The End and The Real World: Portland debut this week, so it seems fitting that MTV do a little promotion just like this one. The video features Rogen, Jay Baruchel, James Franco, Danny McBride, and Craig Robinson, who are joined by the show’s stars Joi Niemeyer and Averey Tressler living out the rest of their lives in a house that protects them from the apocalypse. The makes use of the fact that the show and film share similarities, like being stuck in a house together.
The promo mixes qualities of the reality show like the confessionals and delegation of
house chores with Rogen’s brand of raunchy comedy, though Niemery and Tressler aren’t even as close to being funny as Rogen and his troupe of comedic cohorts.
This Is The End opens in theaters today and The Real World: Portland airs tonight on MTV.
