Sadly, The Bionic Woman #10 is the last issue of this highly underrated series. Although it was plagued by many things like lateness and low readership, quality storytelling surely wasn’t the problem.

Writer Paul Tobin ends this series the same way he started it – with some good action, page-turning suspense, and a thrilling story. It’s Jamie and the Fembots versus Russia in this issue, and by the looks of these things, Russia’s chances aren’t looking too great. Once again, Tobin has taken the regular, expected story and flipped it on its ear. There’s some really great hold your breath moments in this issue, as well as some great action and a definite ending to the Fembots storyline. The book also ends with a wink and a nod, just like comic books used to end, but it never goes over the top corny either.

I can’t wait to see where artist Juan Antonio Ramirez goes to next. Wherever it is, that title is in for one talented artist. And, whatever that book is, I’m guessing it’ll feature some fantastic looking women, because that’s what he excels at. His work this issue is, for him, standard. For the rest of us, that means excellent. This guys knows how to lay out a page, to portray action, and to render fantastic looking woman and men. There’s no doubt in my mind, we’ve yet to see the last or even the best of Juan Antonio Ramirez.

Yes, sometimes a series that we REALLY love gets cancelled and taken away from us. For us as fans, this is both heartbreaking and unfair. And that’s why we, as fans, need to tell people about that favorite series that we have that nobody’s talking about. There will always be a Batman comic, a Wolverine comic, a Spider-Man comic, but that one comic that you read that isn’t burning up the charts? Tell your friend about it. Give them a copy. Gift it to them digitally. Tell your retailer how much you like it. Drop a line to the publishers and let them know that it’s the one book you wait for every month. Believe me, the worst that could happen is that you get one more issue. Yes, I’m super sad to see this comic go. But, I want to send a great big THANK YOU to Paul Tobin, to Juan Antonio Ramirez, to Inlight Studios, to Simon Bowland (a SERIOUSLY underrated talent in comics), to Joe Rybandt, to Nick Barucci, to Kim Niemi, Ed Prince, and Christopher Lucero for giving us ten great issues of The Bionic Woman. It did NOT go unnoticed.
