The legion of Firefly fans looking for new material in the universe have reason to rejoice today as Fox Digtial Entertainment and QMx Interactive announced plans for Firefly Online, the first officially licensed video game for the cult TV show and movie. The game is set to launch in Summer 2014 and will be available on iOS devises and the Android marketplace.
The game lets players take on the role of a ship captain, just like Captain Mal Reynolds from the show, where they will find a ship, hire a crew, and take on missions so they can keep flying. Players will also be able to customize their ship while they explore the ‘Verse, and will also be able to connect with other players using unique social features. There’s no price information on the game yet, so we’ll just have to wait and see if there will be a one-time price for it or if they will go with a monthly price or go with the freemium model of micro-transactions for in game items.
You can check out the official trailer for the game here below.
Those looking forward to the game can sign up for the QMx Insider newsletter by going to their website, or they can follow the game on Twitter at @firefly_game or check them out on Facebook under Firefly Online Game.
What do you think, will you be exploring the ‘Verse once the game is released?
