B-Squad: Soldiers of Misfortune
Project Type: Comic
Funding Goal: $3,000
End Date: August 31, 2013
B-Squad: Soldiers of Misfortune is an upcoming comic book series combining action and intrigue amidst a comedic tone. Launched as a Kickstarter campaign on August 1, 2013 from writer Eben E.B. Burgoon (Eben07: Covert Custodian) and illustrator Lauren Monardo (Venture Bros.), the creators have already met their goal for the first issue from multiple backers; however, Burgoon and Monardo still need your help to fund subsequent issues.
B-Squad follows the misadventures and exploits of a rag-tag team of mercenaries forced into all sorts of unfortunate mayhem; but there’s a catch: not everyone will make it to the end of the series. Each issue will see the death of one of the team members, while new characters will also be introduced within each issue, ensuring a fresh and unsuspecting progression.

You can pledge as little as $1 and reap the benefits, but some of the grander Kickstarter rewards include a signed copy of B-Squad: Soldiers of Misfortune #1, a poster, and a thank you postcard from the crew all for only $25; a $50 donation will get you all of the above as well as a pair of B-Squad socks; pledging $100 or more you’ll get to see your name printed on the helmet of a Moguis demon, a personal photo of your adopted furry demon, a signed issue, and more! If you so choose to go above and beyond with your donations, higher-end rewards include your likeness as a hipster poacher within the issue, signed pencil and ink pages, and your very own advertisement in the back of the issue!
B-Squad looks to be a worthwhile and entertaining series. With exaggerated mercenary action and death, hipster gangs and furry little demons à la Gremlins, how could you go wrong? Funding for the Kickstarter concludes on August 31.
