‘Thor: The Dark World’ Director Alan Taylor To Helm ‘Terminator’ Reboot

Terminator 2: Judgment Day

Back in June, we reported that the fifth Terminator film was confirmed to be a reboot and standalone from the first four films, which contradicted Arnold Schwarzenegger‘s previous statements. Annapurna Pictures purchased the rights to the film, and Paramount will help with the distribution. At the time, screenwriters Laeta Kalorgridis (Avatar, Shutter Island) and Patrick Lussier (Drive Angry) were the only ones attached to the project. But now the film has found its director.

Variety has confirmed that Alan Taylor (Game of Thrones and Thor: The Dark World) will direct the untitled Terminator film. Hit the jump for more details.

We can’t be certain if this has will have an affect on Schwarzenegger’s role in the film, if he even had any to begin with. But now that there is a director attached, we could very well be moving on to the casting phase of this project.

No word yet on if Taylor signed on for just one film or multiple ones, but I can’t help but think there will be an option for a sequel if the reboot turns out to be a success.

So what do you think? Is Alan Taylor the right fit for the Terminator reboot?
