Zach Helm On Mr. Magorium Reference In Breaking Bad

Minor insignificant spoilers follow. But spoilers are spoilers no matter now big or small.

During the penultimate episode of Breaking Bad, Walter White (Bryan Cranston) is forced to seek refugee in a secluded cabin in New Hampshire. Far away from any sort of communication, Walter finds out that he only has two forms of film entertainment: two copies of Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium. So really, it’s one form. The owner (Robert Forster) of the cabin says that he is not much of a movie guy.

TMZ (via Filmdrunk) caught up with Zach Helm, the director of Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium, and asked about his thoughts about his movie being on Breaking Bad.

Zach also said as good as “Breaking Bad” is “¦ the plot line of ANYONE having 2 DVDs of that movie is simply unbelievable. As he put it, “That is exactly two more copies than are allowed in my house.”

You can really tell when a person hates a movie. But not having any copies of your directorial debut to sit on your DVD shelf says a lot about the film itself.

But Helm didn’t stop there. He went on to bash on his own film a little more.

“Having myself endured the ignominy of watching the Technicolor train-wreck that is ‘Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium’ multiple times every day for over a year, I can attest to it being the perfect Kafka-esque Hell for a character of such moral ambiguity as Walter White.”

It’s clear that Mr. Magorium is one of the worst films out there, and probably one that people have forgotten about or would have preferred not to have seen. But if you think about it, the film will be more popular than it ever was, even when it debuted back in 2007. All of this thanks in to Walter White and the Guy.

In fact, here is a link to an IMDB review from Walter who is using his Mr. Lambert alias that was given to him by the Guy.
